General Counter-Spell
General Counter-Spell (Finite atau Finite Incantatem) adalah mantra perlindungan untuk penggunaan umum. Mantra ini dapat digunakan dalam duel atau di seluruh rumah sebagai tindakan pencegahan sebelum seorang penyihir membuka pintu asrama.
Belum diketahui oleh siapa atau kapan mantra itu ditemukan. Mantra ini adalah salah satu dari tujuh yang tercakup dalam Buku Standar Mantra, Kelas 2 oleh Miranda Goshawk.
•Pelafalan Finite : fi-NEE-tay.
•Pelafalan Finite Incantatem : fi-NEE-tay in-can-TAH-tem.
•Tipe mantra : Counter-Spell.
•Gerakan wand : Seperti bentuk perisai / tameng.
•Warna : Merah
•Efek : Menghentikan semua mantra.
General Counter-Spell menghentikan semua efek mantra mulai dari mantra sederhana seperti Jelly-Legs Jinx hingga mantra yang lebih rumit seperti Atmospheric Charms.
Tidak diketahui apakah ada perbedaan antara Finite dan Finite Incantatem, dalam hal kekuasaan atau penggunaan, mungkin saja Finite adalah cara yang lebih sederhana dari General Counter-Spell.
Tokoh yang pernah menggunakan mantra ini adalah :
1. Professor Severus Snape pernah menggunakan mantra ini (17 Desember 1992) untuk menghentikan berbagai mantra yang mempengaruhi anggota klub duel ketika segalanya menjadi tidak terkendali.
2. Professor Remus Lupin pernah menggunakan mantra General Counter-spell ini (18 Juni 1996) untuk mengentikan Tarantallegra Hex dari Neville Longbottom.
3. Harry Potter pernah menggunakan mantra Finite (2 Mei 1998) untuk membatalkan efek Descendo yang dimantrai oleh Crabbe pada tumpukan besar benda.
