Ervis works at a good level and always makes an effort to contribute to lessons. He has developed his knowledge and demonstrated a good understanding of how writers use language techniques for descriptive writing. Ervis ensures his answers are correct by asking relevant questions and checking over his work. To progress further, he will need some practice on full pieces of creative writing i.e. fictional stories to unlock the imaginative side and apply the use of linguistic techniques taught.
Mirwais makes a good attempt at completing tasks given but requires assistance when it comes to understanding. For example, the basic language techniques writers use for effect in texts. He has grasped the concept of verbs and attempted to go beyond to changing the tenses of verbs but will require more work and practice on this, as well as other language techniques taught.
Valentina works hard and always gives her best efforts in the completion of her tasks given. She has worked well during the sessions and has shown to be a quick learner, in particular the subject-verb agreement activity and language techniques. She produces good quality answers once she has understood and is always willing to learn more. To progress further, it would be beneficial to widen her use of vocabulary and proof read her writing to prevent small mistakes.
Daniela is a hardworking student and demonstrates her understanding well during discussion and written tasks. Daniela is quick to recognise her mistakes and is able to self-reflect efficiently during the activities. She has shown a good level of understanding by successfully completing the subject-verb tasks for instance, however she will need more practice to perfect her grammar in English writing.
Paige is a good and able student who is capable of understanding major concepts quickly and with ease. Paige lacks confidence in her own ability but needs to realise that she is capable of producing work of a high standard. She displayed good familiarity with many language and structural techniques and the effects in creative writing, she was able to come up with her own examples and applying what she had learnt. Paige demonstrated a great level of understanding and will further benefit from identifying the techniques learnt from existing non-fiction written texts.
Maegan contributes significantly to the discussions during each session. Although easily distracted on occasion, she is able to work well independently following instructions given for each task. She is confident in her work and makes good use of descriptive phrases and expressive words to produce well written pieces for creative writing. Maegan is a fast learner and shows enthusiasm in her creative writing work. She has minor grammatical errors in some of her creative writing and would accordingly benefit from redrafting and proofreading her work more often in the future.
Romane has been disruptive in a few sessions and is easily distracted, nonetheless he is able to work well once independent work is set. Romane has grasped a good understanding of the different structure and layouts for different text types. E.g. Newspaper article, cartoon strip, story writing and the use of paragraphs. He has demonstrated some good ideas in his imaginative work but Romane needs to develop his vocabulary to work at a high level.
Mya has attended a number of the sessions late, however, when the activities are explained understanding and written work during lessons are of good quality. She has demonstrated a strong understanding of change in tense and her creative story writing is well detailed and thorough. She is able to work well independently given instruction, quickly and efficiently. To improve, Mya should attend the full session to benefit from them.
Joshua is a well abled student and understands instructions given during each session with ease. He is confident and acknowledges the effect of language and structure in writing, he has also shown a great level of understanding on different narrative styles. Joshua needs to develop his story writing further by adding greater detail and applying his knowledge of linguistic techniques.
Ontre attends every session and attempts the tasks given with great effort. Although he is easily distracted, Ontre is able to get back on track and get on with the activities well independently. He has shown progression in his creative writing and understanding of linguistic techniques and is able to give his own examples of each. He has demonstrating his understanding of the different structural layouts for each piece of writing e.g. a diary entry, formal letter, newspaper articles. Ontre has room for improvement when it comes to grammar and punctuation, he has grasped the concept of the subject-verb agreement activities but will require more practice on grammar in creative writing overall.
Ashanti is often reluctant to do any of the written tasks given to her, however she has taken part in discussions and answering questions well verbally. She shows good general knowledge and understanding of the effects that language and structure have in creative writing, as well as changes in tense but struggles to demonstrate this in writing. Ashanti needs to work on implementing her knowledge and understanding through practicing creative writing of different text types.
