Why did the Civil War Amendments draw attention to the plight of women?
- The Civil War drew attention because after the war, most men died or left the fight. So, the women had to take the jobs in order to keep the balance in life. Men realized that women could actually be of help in other ways than tending to the house.
Did women's rights leaders such as Anthony really help achieve women's rights, or was the extension of these rights inevitable by the 1920's? Write a persuasive argument defending one of these viewpoints.
- Woman's Rights leaders helped guide women to gain rights. Susan B. Anthony, Lucretia Mott, Amelia Bloomer, Lucy Stone, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. They all helped by traveling around in order to speak for women. By speaking at conventions, they changed the minds of many people attending the convention. Making women brave enough to stand up to men in order to get their rights. All of them were so influential to others, that they started a rally involving signs that signaled women as people. Women were so affected by them that finally, one day, women got the rights they deserved.
