Michael Taylor dan istrinya Christine menjalani kehidupan mereka dengan damai di kota Ossett, Yorkshire. Sampai, istrinya merasa cemburu dan menuduh suaminya telah berselingkuh dengan seorang wanita bernama Marie.
Sejak saat itu, karakter Michael berubah drastis, dari penyayang menjadi seorang pemarah dan suka melakukan kekerasan. Karena prilakunya yang tak lazim, sekelompok imam diundang ke rumahnya untuk melakukan pengusiran setan.
Setalah 24 jam penuh, para imam mengaku telah mengusir 40 setan, tetapi mereka harus berhenti karena lelah. Mereka juga mengatakan bahwa masih banyak setan yang merasuki tubuh Michael dan khawatir setan itu akan mengendalikan sepenuhnya tubuh Michael dan melakukan hal yang tak dinginkan.
Kekhawatiran mereka menjadi kenyataan ketika Michael mencekik anjing peliharaannya, memutilasinya istrinya, dan berjalan dengan berlumuran darah.
