Wushu secara harfiah adalah seni bertempur, wushu di berasal dr kata wu yang berarti ilmu perang dan shu berarti seni jadi wushu itu seni ilmu perang.

Pernafasan merupakan teknik dasar dari wushu, sehingga eseorang yang akan mempelajari wushu hendaknya hafus menguasai teknik pernafasan terlebih dahulu. Melatih pernafasan ini seperti saat kita sedang melakukan taichi.
