about the rest of the trilogy I don't think I'll be continuing it since I didn't like the first book much, I know that as Veronica Roth wrote a series she must have wanted to leave some things to be discovered in later books, but the things she gave us (or me at least, I am one of the few people who didn't like the book) weren't enough to intrigue me to pick up the second instalment.
I found the book intensely frustrating and sort of a burden to read and it just generally annoyed me, I felt that reading it was a chore, which really extremely confused me at the time of reading because that book was supposed to be amazing and there was all that hype and even my sister liked it but alas, extreme disappointment and anger ensued *shakes head to add drama*
One other thing that I actually really didn't like about the book was Veronica Roth's writing, I know you love it and think it's really great but I just didn't like it, I didn't connect with the book or any of the characters, it wasn't propelling me to turn the next page and it left me bored and wanting more. You know that feeling you get after finishing a book where you sit there for a few minutes and think about what the hell just happened? never felt it, you know how you still keep thinking about a book for a few days after finishing it? didn't feel that either, I actually got over the book surprisingly fast.
Another thing that I just did not find realistic was that after Tris was shot (in the arm I think?) she just continued running and fighting as if there wasn't a bullet in her arm, never feeling anything.. I highly doubt a person with a bullet in their arm would go saving the world, probably would sit and sob on the floor...anyway, I get that she needed to get up and save some stuff (read the book a while ago don't exactly remember so "stuff" will do) but she did it with almost no effort! it's like she doesn't even fail pain!
One more thing, at least from MY point of view I don't see the dauntless as "brave", I see them as reckless & stupid, I don't find jumping off trains and buildings brave!
About the factionless, you said that they could just kill some of them and the rest would be afraid but these people have nothing to lose, they clearly live on the charity from abnegation, they are almost dead anyway, the work for food and shelter but that's not nearly enough, and if they kill them anyway then the city loses because they don't have garbage collectors and bus drivers now! see? mass murder is NOT the answer.
That is all I have to say now, maybe once you get the chance to reply to these we can have further discussions about the book, again I hope I haven't bothered you and thanks for talking to me about this, I really enjoyed talking to you :)
