Computers and the Internet: Employees use computers to make calculations, create reports, send messages, and perform many other tasks. Computers help save time and improve work quality. The Internet has transformed the way we work by enabling speedy communication and access to information.

Email and other messaging systems: Computers have led to faster communication in the workplace. The Internet and intranets allow employees to send messages almost instantly to anyone, anywhere.

Tablets, cell phones, and mobile devices: Many offices and businesses allow workers to use their own devices for office work. They follow a BYOD (bring your own device) policy. Employees can use their tablets and cell phones to read documents, spreadsheets, and email.

Social networks: Some workplaces use social media to reach out to customers and business partners and to keep updated with industry news. Other workplaces don’t allow the use of public social media networks because it may distract employees from work. Instead, they may use enterprise social networking sites. Only company employees can access these sites.
Use polite language: No matter how you may feel about the recipient, always keep your tone polite and professional.

Thank your recipient: At the end of your email, remember to add a few words of thanks. It tells recipients that you value their time and effort.

Use a good complimentary close: Complimentary closes (also known as valedictions) are polite and respectful ways to end a mail. Here are some examples: "Yours Truly," "Sincerely," and "Thank You."

Include your signature: State your name, title or position, telephone or mobile number, and professional address. Your recipients will appreciate this contact information.
