The Week Magazine Article (Aug 15, 2011):
"At the current rate of advance," he continued, the priority should be "detailed planning for a stable post-Gaddafi government – a project that is riddled with wishful thinking and half measures... If post-Gaddafi Libya is not run well – or emerges as a haven of warlords and Islamic fundamentalists — history will be a harsh judge of their military adventurism."

"Since Nato started bombing, Gaddafi support and approval ratings have actually soared to about 85 per cent. Of the 2,335 tribes in Libya, over 2,000 are still pledging their allegiance to the embattled president." He adds: "At present, the people still blame Nato - not Gaddafi - for the [fuel and electricity] shortages."

"Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi in a private meeting warned activists,
journalists and media personalities that they would be held responsible if
they participated in disturbances of the peace, witnesses said, Asharq
Al-Awsat reported Feb. 9, citing Libya Al-Youm website. The National
Conference for the Libyan Opposition and political activists called for a
Libyan "Day of Rage" on Feb. 17. Most of the attendees at the private
meeting were from eastern Libyan cities, witnesses said."

"Libya - There was some unrest recently totally unrelated to the political
protests in the region. To make a long and hilarious story short, Ghaddafi
made a speech saying that Libyans had the right to settle in houses built
by foreigners. A bunch of illiterate Libyans took that speech literally
and occupied housing complexes under construction, giving hell to the
South Korean construction workers. Since then, a group called National
Conference for the Libyan Opposition. We are still digging into the group
but they seem to made up of mostly exiled opposition. . Another
opposition group Enough!Gaddafi has claimed that some 50 military
personnel were arrested because they were accused of being in touch with
opposition. Difficult to verify though. Overall, I'm not worried about
Libya. Ghaddafi has it under control, army is loyal still, small
