August 3 the first day of class at the John Oakes police academy. Ari was very excited to begin class to become a police officer. Ari gets into her car and heads to the Police academy. Ari swings into the campus parking lot. She reaches for her phone to put it on silent, grabs her books and scurry off to class. The room was full and Mr.Clement was heading to the front of the class, but was interrupted by Ari's lateness. She was embarrassed as all eyes was on her as she found her seat.

After a tumultuous day Ari was heading home when her phone rang. " Hey mom, what's up?" ( Ari's mother was calling). " Ari, I have some sad news, pausing to dry her eyes, your dad was shot and is in surgery having the bullets removed from his head and leg." Ari stops the car immediately and shouts, "WHAT, OMG, WHAT HAPPENED?" " Ari, please get here as soon as you can, I need you with me." "Ok mom, I'm on my way!"

When Ari reaches the emergency room she searches for her mom, when Ari sees her mom, they embrace each other and begin to cry. " Mom, is dad going to be all right?" "I don't know," replied her mom, I'm waiting to hear from doctor O'Berry.

"Mom, tell me what happened; how did he get shot, who did this terrible thing?" Still crying, her mother replied,"we don't know yet." "Your dad was investigating a robbery when things went sour and your dad was shot." "The robber got away." " Right now we don't know how much your dad will remember.

"Mrs.Flynn, Hi, I am doctor O'Berry, to update you on your husband's surgery"( Mrs.Flynn interrupts doctor O'Berry) "This is my daughter, Ari." Ari replies " please to meet you sir." Doctor O'Berry begins to explain that the surgery went very well. "There will be some swelling on the brain." " We will have to wait until he regains conscious to see if any damage was done." "The bullet went through his leg but it looks like no permanent damage was done to his leg either."

Mrs.Flynn says," Can we see him now?" Doctor O'Berry replies " He is in recovery and will probably be there for a couple of hours." " The nurse will let you know when you can see him." "Do you have any questions?" " Not right now doctor," says Mrs.Flynn " Thank you for all that you have done for my husband."

While Ari and her mother wait in the recovery waiting area they try to figure out what went wrong to cause Mr.Flynn to get shot.

Just as questions and thoughts baffled them, sergeant McCray comes on to the waiting area. Mrs.Flynn has known sergeant McCray for any years as he was the first officer to work with her husband. After exchanging pleasantries, Mrs.Flynn brings sergeant McCray up to date on Rogdrick's sugery.
