"Ugh.... what time is it?" There was a small sniffle and some shuffling around as a hand started to search for a phone.

A yawn was heard as a phone was discovered and powered on.

"Welcome, Alexander Mica." The brightness of the screen overflowed the room, causing an annoyed groan as the boy, known as Alexander Mica stood up. "Year, 3217. Day, December 14th. Time, 7:30."

"I should be good, it's only..." There was a moment of silence as Alex had suddenly realized what time it was, and how late he would be. "7:30?!" Alex quickly rushed himself into his closet, taking out his school uniform which consisted of a grey blazer and grey slacks with simple black dress shoes. Underneath the blazer was a white collared shirt and a misty grey tie representing his affinity.

He quickly attempted to put it on as fast as he could, once finished he started to run for the door but not before tripping and nearly landing on his face. He quickly snatched a left-over bag of chips and stuffed some into his mouth before throwing it back on the floor of his apartment.

He slammed the door open, quickly taking out his key and locking the door, turning back around and continuing his rush to school.

Capital City was the biggest and only city in the world. It housed a population of 4.7 billion people and yet found a way to not be overpopulated.

The city spanned over three countries, and in order to just simply get out of the city from the center took about two day's travel using the trains.

Alex lived in the Southwest portion of the city, which would only take four hours for him to get to the exit.

He attended Southwest Affinity Academy and was going on his second year there. The black messy-haired boy was about sixteen, turning seventeen in only a few months. He used to live in an orphanage until the Government decided he had been old enough to live on his own, so they sent him off to live in a small one-room apartment with a weekly allowance.

He was completely fine with it and found living alone to be the only way he could imagine his life. Living with a roommate in a big house? Never.

As Alex ran, he took a couple of seconds to appreciate his surroundings, busy streets, street signs, cherry blossom trees which made Spring look a lot lovelier than it actually was, and a bunch of friendly people walking down the street.

He took a deep breath, before focusing back on his original objective.

Get to school before 8 O'clock!

He checked his phone once more, "Time, 7:40." Alex let out a small sigh, he wouldn't be as late as he thought he'd be. He slowed down his pace, now walking as he saw the streets, the school was simply a five-minute walk from where he was.

He smiled as he continued ahead, even though the academy was hellish at some points, he loved the commute to it. 'Two minutes ahead!' He thought to himself as could see the academy's gates up ahead.

The Academy was shaped as two large A's, which wasn't unique at all, as the other Affinity Academies followed the same formula.

As Alex walked through the gates he let out a sigh of relief. "At least I wasn't late.."

"Listen Monkey, how bout you bug off and we'll let you off for today?"

"Monkey?! Who the hell are you calling Monkey, Gorilla!" Alex turned his head towards the left, hearing all the commotion and arguing would only lead a normal person to be curious.

As he got a better look at the commotion, a wave of disappointment hit him as he saw what was going on.

A single teen boy was currently arguing with a group of four other, burly large jocks.

The standalone boy was Aura Marine, he had dark brown hair that was clearly attempted to be brushed, but also seemed as if some bedhead had been left in the mix. A special note about Aura's hair was that it seemed to hold a light-blue highlight on the tips of his hair, which fit with his sea blue eyes.

Alex and Aura had been friends since around the middle school, although if Alex tried to tell you how they met, he almost wouldn't remember himself. Alex always attempted to keep Aura out of things like school drama with the jocks, but Aura was a little too hardheaded to actually listen.

Aura at heart was a nice person, but got irritated and annoyed easily.

Alex held his breath as he approached the group, placing a hand on Aura's shoulder.

Alex faked a smile as he pulled Aura back, a bit of wind pushing Aura back as well. "Hi! Hello! Sorry for my friend, he's a bit stupid sometimes and doesn't mind his own business." Alex then proceeded to bow his head. "I'm very sorry for his disturbance."

Alex heard the jocks mumble something, followed along by "he wasn't worth it anyway."

As the jocks walked away, Alex finally stood up straight and glared darkly at Aura. "Can you not get into fights with the jocks anymore?" Aura felt a little shiver crawl down his spine from being glared at by Alex before shaking it off.

"Haven't I told you not to interrupt me when I'm making new friends?" Another trait of Aura, sarcasm.

Alex growled before turning away and walking towards the school entrance, Aura following along. "Besides, you gotta stop acting like my mom."

"Maybe I'd stop acting like your mom when you start acting less like a five-year-old!"

"See?! You sound like a mom!"

"Don't make me slap you, young man."

"Just proving my point.~"
