Hewan ini diketahui bisa berjalan menggunakan kaki belakangnya Hewan ini sangat, amat cepat, kuat dan sangat sulit untuk dibunuh. Selain itu, matanya juga memiliki sebuah kekuatan. Mata kuningnya dipercaya memiliki kekuatan untuk menghipnotis dan Legilimency. Legilimency adalah tindakan untuk memasuki pikiran seseorang.
Suku Cheeroke adalah suku yang paling bisa mempelajari hewan ini secara detail karena daerah asal mereka sama.
Wampus Cat ini juga memiliki manfaat. Bulunya dapat dijadikan sebagai inti wand.
Karena mereka yang paling dekat, hanya suku Cheeroke-lah yang bisa mendapatkan bulunya.
Selain itu, Wampus Cat juga digunakan sebagai salah satu simbol terkenal di dunia sihir, yaitu simbol untuk salah satu asrama di sekolah sihir di Amerika Serikat, yaitu Ilvermony. Wampus ini dipilih untuk mewakilkan salah satu asrama Ilvermony oleh Webster Boots, salah satu pendiri sekolah tersebut, karena Wampus Cat merupakan hewan favoritnya.
