Cars that have been given a salvage titles are those that the insurance company claims would cost more to repair than the vehicle is worth. Shop around. There is a ton of money to be saved on your parts if you are willing to shop around. If you are buying from a dealer then it is a good idea to tell them if you have found the part cheaper, they will usually be more than willing to give you a better price.


You will need to have the title in your name and it needs to be clear. Being clear means that there are no lien holders on the title who would have a claim to that vehicle. For some salvage yards, you will need to remove the fluids including gas and oil. If the vehicle is drivable, many times you can find a yard that will allow you to drive it in rather than disassembling it first.
