the kaleidoscope is a toy that is made with mirrors and some type of thing that distorts light whether it be beads or in the case of the kaleidoscopes we looked at a liquid. Kaleidoscopes work by using transparent, translucent, and opaque things to make patterns and colors mirrors, and light. What patterns and colors you see depends on what you use to change the light. This would be in front of the tube of mirrors. Transparent things are things like glass that allow light to pass through unaltered. Translucent things are things that allow some light to pass through. Opaque things are “solid” and allow no light to pass through. After the light travels through the stuff at the front of the kaleidoscope it reflects off the mirrored walls of the tube eventually reaching your eye. The number of reflections is determined by the number mirrors in the tube. The more mirrors there are the more reflections there are and the more distorted the image appears.
