페이스북에 김치 담그는 영상을 올린 한모씨는 “보내준 절임배추와 양념으로 김치를 담가 여럿이 맛있게 나눠먹었다”며 소개하기도 했다.


이러한 우려를 불식시키고자 식약처는 김치 수입 규모에 따라 단계적으로 해썹 인증을 의무 적용하는 방안을 추진한다. 먼저 오는 10월 1일부터 수입량 1만톤 이상의 해외 김치 제조업소가 해썹 인증을 의무적으로 획득해야 한다. 2022년엔 5000톤 이상, 2023년 1000톤 이상, 2024년엔 모든 김치 해외 제조업소가 해썹 의무 적용 대상이 된다.


식약처 관계자는 다소비 수입 식품으로 가열공정이 없어 엄격한 관리가 필요한 수입 배추김치를 해썹 의무 적용 품목으로 정해 국민들을 안심시키고자 한다며 앞으로도 해외제조업소 위생관리를 철저히 하여 수입식품에 대한 국민 우려를 완전히 해소할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다고 말했다.




최근 중국에서 비위생적으로 절임배추를 만드는 영상이 공개되며 손님들의 ‘중국산 김치’ 기피 현상이 두드러지자 국산으로 속여 판 식당들이 대거 적발됐다.



국립농산물품질관리원은 최근 일주일 동안 전국 3000여 곳의 음식점을 대상으로 긴급 단속을 벌인 결과 130곳이 김치 원산지를 허위로 표시해 적발됐다고 12일 밝혔다.



관리원에 따르면 중국산 배추김치를 사용하면서 ‘배추 국내산, 고춧가루 중국산’으로 표기해 적발된 곳이 가장 많았다. 반찬용뿐 아니라 김치볶음밥, 김치찌개, 김치만두 등을 조리해 판매하는 식당 중 중국산 김치를 이용하면서 원산지를 ‘국산’으로 표기한 곳도 다수였다.



신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19) 확산 후 배달이 늘어나면서 배달 앱에 배추김치의 원산지를 국내산으로 거짓 표시해 변경 조치한 곳들도 적지 않았다.



“국내산 김치만 사용합니다”라고 안내한 식당도 예외는 아니었다. 강원도의 한 국숫집은 중국산 배추김치와 국내산 배추김치 두 가지를 혼용해 사용했지만 메뉴판에는 ‘국내산만 사용한다’고 표기해 놓았다.



전남 여수의 한 식당은 중국산 배추김치 를 씻어 백김치로 만든 후 손님에게 반찬용으로 제공하면서 원산지를 국내산으로 표시해 적발됐다.



인천의 한 반찬가게는 중국산 김치를 판매하면서 가판대 하단에는 작은 글씨로 원산지를 중국으로 적었지만, 커다란 현수막에는 ‘전라도 반찬’이라는 문구를 넣어 적발되기도 했다.



식품의약품안전처는 지난달 중국산 절임 배추와 김치에 대해 제품의 성질‧상태‧맛‧색깔을 확인하는 ‘관능검사’와 물리‧화학‧미생물학적 오염상태 등을 확인하는 ‘정밀검사’ 단계를 한층 강화했으나 소비자들의 불안은 가라앉지 않고 있다.
