Balancing Opposites in Relationships: Living the Quest for Authentic Wholeness

Relationships with others always present challenges web hosting growth. We sometimes resolve the either/or choices within our lives start by making choices that shut us faraway from our greatest potentials. Both poles can be a necessary portion of living yet we all know it is in locating the balance that we experience the full potential of a sacred Self. This Self, even though it includes our polarized dimensions, transforms and transcends those dimensions and causes us to creatively alive.

To released while experiencing uncertainty,

To accept and rejoice in evolving process, would be to know peace.

The pulsing rhythm in the Omnipotent Yes-No

Beats such as an ever-expanding heart to evolve a Universe.

https://energymedicineaustralia.com.au/services/ of Life pauses neither in, nor out,

An affirmation of Life's dynamic balance.

Swimming inside ever-pulsing ocean of becoming

I find peace in the creative I AM.

(Ann Nunley, 1975)

Many individuals remember the powerful representation from the masculine and feminine set forth from the tobacco industry in ads during the latter portion of the 20th Century. The Marlboro man, tall, muscular and wearing a cowboy hat and Levis, stared down upon us from billboards, when it's in another ad, the sexy lady with heavy lipstick, a good cigarette holder between her manicured fingers and stiletto heels for my child feet, reminded us that "You've come an extended way, baby!" The tobacco industry knew the messages would attract our requirement for identity and would sell cigarettes.

It is important to differentiate between your superficial characteristics represented above along with the more enduring intrinsic qualities that truly define the masculine as well as the feminine. Superficial characteristics are stereotypes that enable us to feel "as if" we have been expressing who we're. True intrinsic qualities are archetypes that reflect the values of the deeper, more whole self.

When we form relationships, we are often drawn to individuals that seem "opposite" to us and who express qualities that individuals are not yet capable of express. I suspect we somehow hope that by mere proximity i will be able to "own" those qualities for ourselves. And yet, what we have resisted and repressed within ourselves isn't so easily set free.

My husband Bob and I happen to be married 47 years this spring. Being somewhat introverted, I was magnetized by his uninhibited expressions of exuberance. However, if we married I became uncomfortable with those very expressions. I found myself telling him what he "should" and "shouldn't" say and do - imposing restrictions that suit my narrow comfort zone. He bore this with great patience. Then one day as I was mulling over my judgments and creating a few more, the Oscar Wilde's phrase " all men eliminate the things they love." entered my mind. I vividly saw and felt what I was doing and why. I realized that I needed to build up, within myself, ab muscles qualities that I had first admired in Bob after which rejected.

This experience taught me to be acutely aware as opposed to a lose-lose situation to inquire about others to stop genuine components of themselves in order to meet our own comfortable zone, and our most significant creative act is always to re-create ourselves by liberating ourselves from old coping patterns that inhibit the expression individuals highest potential.

In individually balancing the masculine and feminine qualities within ourselves, we be a little more whole and dynamically alive. Love expands our hearts then moves upward to bloom just as one expression with the Soul. We can then share this wholeness with others without asking these phones fill in our missing pieces.

When two whole and balanced people form a partnership, their hearts and souls unite in the sacred synthesis, setting up a third expression that often surpasses whatever either partner could individually express.

Our movement toward both individual and collective balance supports an authentic ecology of being that we creatively offer the integral systems which we really are a part. As we balance aspects within ourselves, we expand our influence to support balance in the partnerships, our families, our societies, all sentient life on this planet, along with the universe itself.
