Notes

To commence this essay, I would like to propose myself a little bit. My name is Ashley Chan and I am currently attending Manhattan Academy of Technology middle school as an eighth-grader. In school, I'm a very enthusiastic person ready to learn and focus on my work. I take my grades and my education very vigorously. In addition, I am undoubtedly outgoing, which results in making friends easily. In the eyes of the people who know me, I am considered as "the funny one". In my opinion, I consider it my responsibility to make my loved or close ones gleeful and merry. In my free time, my favorite enterprise or sport is basketball. There are so much more things I can introduce about myself, but above are some of the most significant.
I have read many books throughout my lifetime and there were certainly many that have made impacts on me, but the one that seemed to be most influential I would say is "Looking For Alaska" by John Green. This sensational and outstanding novel features the main character Miles Halter going through the elemental things of life. Friendship, love, life, death, choices, and rules. He decides that there is more than just those in his life, and decides to attend a boarding school to seek for a "Great Perhaps" in life. There, he meets and falls in love with Alaska Young. They both go through life together and after a while in the book, Alaska dies due to a car crash mysteriously. This is the reason the book creates a big impact on who I am present-day. After reading this, I realized how easily it is to squander someone or something which has impacted me on treating what I have now better because in anything even as small as a decision can result into losing that someone or something. I should always treat and love what I have now because they are just so fragile that it can be fractured or lost. Also, I am very lucky to have these things because out in the world, there is always someone doing worst than me, so I should have no complaints and treat what I have in front of me with love and care.
In conclusion, I would like to attend Baruch High School because of how Baruch has such a tremendous approach on academics. Further, with the effort and preparation done at Baruch, I think it is a better quality of training than many other high schools for college. In addition, there is a diverse amount of classes in Baruch High School that I am interested in and have heard considerable words about. For example, art, math, science, gym, and more. There are not only a variety of classes, but a splendid amount of afterschool programs, activities, and clubs. What I am really interested in is the basketball team. I have a passion for basketball and I think it would be such a honor to be on the team. Overall, not only is the education a great preparation, but the amount of other opportunities to be able to participate in the school is fascinating and incredible.
