Psikologi
Menurut etimologi, psikologi berasal dari bahasa yunani yaitu psikologi berasal dari bahasa Yunani Kuno: "ψυχή" (Psychē yang berarti jiwa) dan "-λογία" yang artinya ilmu.
Sebagai bagian dari ilmu pengetahuan, Psikologi memiliki akar dari bidang ilmu filosofi yang diprakarsai sejak zaman Aristoteles sebagai ilmu jiwa, yaitu ilmu untuk kekuatan hidup.
Aristoteles memandang ilmu jiwa sebagai ilmu yang mempelajari gejala - gejala suatu kehidupan. jiwa adalah unsur dari kehidupan , karena itu tiap - tiap makhluk hidup mempunyai jiwa.
Perkembangan Psikologi memiliki 2 metode :
1. metode umum
pada metode ini pendekatan yang dipakai dengan pendekatan longitudinal, transversal, dan lintas budaya. pendekatan yang dimaksud disini ialah dilakukan secara langnsung atau melalui wawancara dengan mendasari faktor-faktor bawaan, dan lingkungan khususnya kebudayaan yang sedang berkembang di masyarakat
2. metode khusus
pada metode ini suatu metode yang akan diselidiki dengan suatu proses alat atau perhitungan yang cermat dan pasti.
