Online judges are emerging as a great self learning tool for developing programming expertise. Online judge is basically an application consisting of programming contests of varying difficulty. Each programming contest consists of a set of problems of varying difficulty. Students attempt to solve these problems in a programming language of their choice and the Online judge tests the code against a predefined and hidden test case, and displays the result back to student. Regular practice at these contests help enhance the programming skills of students. Also, they are in contest with their peers which provides for a competitive environment for learning and developing skills. Programming community also benefits students as they learn by reading each other's code and understand the importance of proper documentation and debugging skills. We have built an online judge to run programming contests from a local server. It can be used to run contests within college either for specific topics or for general practice. We believe such regular practice will benefits students become better programmers.
