STOP

- Socializing has not been largely viewed as an operantly conditioned behavior, but upon reflection, our daily interactions with each other are give-and-take: we expect reinforcement, so we act a certain way.

- If smiling at someone makes them smile back and makes us feel good about ourselves we do it again. I used operant conditioning to become friends with a girl in my class.

- Socializing, generally speaking, is on a variable ratio schedule, since we do not communicate with someone positively everytime we see them; we may ignore them on a bad day or be in a rush so we cannot interact with them at that moment.

- However, consistent reinforcement where possible and reasonable can reliably build relationships and your social network, as supported by my experiment.

STOP

- Observational fear, I found, was the most researched idea in observational learning. From my experiment, I found that confident attitudes are also learned through observation; the guy I tried to evoke observational fear in adopted a confident and defiant mindset, which was then reflected in my two female subjects, which ended the experiment.

- The attitudes we adopt are largely unintentional, but through intentional attitude adoption we can alter the environment around us.

- Had the guy just played along, the experiment would have run without a hiccup. However, due to his intentional defiance and questioning, he changed the subject of observation.
