Online video storage is not reliable. Websites can shut down or even fail. Here's how to backup the social media content to your personal computer.

My personal story isn't one with a lot of depth. I was born, attended school, worked, and, finally achieved something online.. However, it also has several traumatic moments when I thought everything was lost for ever. One of those instances was when my personal computer at work went quiet. After some tweaking, installing new desktops and shifting the hard drive from one drive to the next, I was capable of restoring all the work stored on the drive. It took me 3 days of sweating, and literally tears... After that I've learned one thing - to utilize Dropbox and personal ftp servers to back up my files both manually and automatically my day's work so that nothing is deleted.

This is definitely not the ideal solution. The bigger your data storage becomes and the bigger it gets, the more you'll must pay to maintain everything there, to keep it up and running. It's quite simple and secure. It's also extremely easy to download from any internet-connected device. But what about times when WiFi or any other internet connection is not available? In those instances, I am grateful to have my laptop on me. It is my last safe place for backups. There are two drives that are connected to form a RAID stack so they copy each other and ensure that a copy is left in case one of the 2 HDDs is damaged. I only copy stuff there, usually, and rarely make the laptop work, this way I am hoping 2 drives won't go out on the same day..

Another big day of sadness was a few months ago. I take care not to lose my work, as I mentioned above, now I copy it several times over and have access to the internet wherever it is. It was Periscope. I was a frequent user few years back as well as this summer during the riots, I was able to participate in some live streams.. All of suddenly Periscope TV is closing, and all the videos will be gone in a few weeks time. What can I do? I need to download all the videos and save them on my computer. These are very special for me. It's the last time that I saw my friend, who disappeared from radars in Covid. It seems like it was a mistake.

The site is one that I frequently visit. It lets me download video content from Youtube and Instagram, as well as Facebook which are some of the places that I store the majority of my live streams. I am very involved in politics, underground movements and other underground movements. Therefore, I film a lot, save and then upload them to my Youtube channel. When the live event ends the footage is downloaded to my laptop. This is the way I do it. This allows me cross-posting videos on different platforms. Not only can I post Youtube videos on Facebook and Twitter, but I can also upload the video directly onto Facebook. https://savemedia.cc It's a separate video. As it is that I am now able to upload three TB of live feeds that I've conducted over the past eight years. Periscope will not go away.. This site is a great help to me.

It's a breeze. You can open the video you want to download on Periscope, Youtube, or Facebook. Copy the URL by clicking the share link. Then, I go to the website for video downloaders and copy the URL. https://savemedia.cc Then, I can download the video to my computer or to my desktop. I can save it on my computer to use on other platforms. It is also possible to share it with friends. Not every site can help with Periscope, but this one is a good choice, it can manage m3u8 files that other sites usually download on your behalf.. These are useful however, and I'm not saying that they aren't however, they're actually using fragments of online video feeds, so playing this file in VLC while works great, does not actually do the job - video is not installed on your computer, it's still online and plays from online as the player loads short fragment files 1 at a time...

You can use windows copy to put these fragments together, and then create a normal 1 long video file. The format used for video fragments is MpegTS, sometimes referred to as transport stream. The format used to create the fragments is Mpeg TS. It permits new users to stream in to the center of the stream with no interruption. However, it can help browsers save data transfer, because instead of a single hour file, it is able to download 360 x 10 seconds long files. It only downloads those that you are watching, thus even if you watch only 25 seconds of the stream your player will download only 4-6 pieces (it downloads 3-4 fragments of the current 25 seconds stretch as well as 1-2 fragments following in the event that you continue viewing the stream). This lets you reduce the amount of data you need by downloading only 25 seconds of video stream.
