A. Pengenalan Pers
- Orang-orang yang bekerja menyebarluaskan informasi di balik media massa (cetak, non cetak / Media lama, media baru) > Pers.
- Media lama = Tatap Muka, no internet needed, di dalam jangka waktu yang lama. Produk cetak, konvensional
- Media baru = Daring, internet needed, dalam jangka waktu yang cepat. Produk internet, digital
- Interaksi langsung (tidak termediasi): tidak menggunakan media, terbatas oleh ruang dan waktu
- Interaksi Termediasi: interaksi sosial diperantai dengan media massa, tidak terbatas ruang dan waktu
B. Sejarah Media
- Pers Otoritarian > Bercirikan propaganda (korut), membawa nilai-nilai kepentingan penguasa. Polanya top down (gak boleh menyebarluaskan berita selain yang berkuasa)
- Pers Libertarian > Bercirikan nilai-nilai kebebasan pers, justru mengawasi dan mengkritisi pemerintah, nilai-nilai life style kebebasan bisa aja diberitakan (pornografi, dll). Atau mau hiburan + informasi yang serius juga boleh. Bebas deh pokoknya.
- Pers Soviet Komunis >
- Indonesia: "Otoriterian" (orba, reformasi), "Libertarian" (orla, reformasi).
Ciri-ciri: Searah, melembaga, khalayaknya heterogen, menimbulkan keserempakan
Media massa membingkai informasi sesuai dengan kebutuhan audiensnya >> framming

- Lembaga ekonomi (contoh tv swasta pada akhirnya adalah sebuah bisnis butuh profit)
