DAY 1-PERIDIOCAL EXAMINATION
SCIENCE,CHRISTIAN LIVING,ENGLISH

SCIENCE-PERIODICAL TEST
TOPIC 1- CONDUCTORS OF HEAT AND ELECTRICITY
OBJECTIVES
-determine poor and good conductors of heat and electricity
-discuss why some materials are good conductors of heat and electricity
- Give examples of conductors and insulators
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ATOMS-
Atoms are made of very tiny particles called protons, electrons, and neutrons. Protons and electrons are in the center of the atom. They make up the nucleus. Protons have a positive charge, while electrons have a negative charge. Neutrons have a negative charge.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WHAT IS A CONDUCTOR?
Conductors are materials that allow heat and electricity to pass through
easily.
example-
METAL,SILVER,IRON,ALUMINUM,
Metals are good conductors because they contain free electrons and have a strong metallic bond where there are free electrons that are connected together.
Copper wires are widely used for electrical wiring because they are ductile
and are good conductors of electricity.
Iron, gold, silver, brass, steel, nickel and water are also conductors of heat
and electricity.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
WHAT IS A INSULATOR?
Oppose the flow of electrons from one atom to another or
from one molecule to another molecule
example-
RUBBER,GLASS,CERAMIC
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-Metals are good conductors of heat and electricity. Copper and aluminum are metals. Stainless steel is an iron-based metal with chromium.
Cooking pots and pans made of metals make cooking faster because they quickly allow heat transfer from the flame to the food being cooked.
Not all materials are good conductors of heat and electricity. They are called
insulators.
-Insulators are materials that does not allow heat and electricity to pass through easily.
Materials that are made of plastic, silk, leather, glass, oil and rubber are insulators.
- Conductors are materials that allow heat and electricity to pass through
easily.
Copper wires are widely used for electrical wiring because they are ductile
and are good conductors of electricity.
Iron, gold, silver, brass, steel, nickel and water are also conductors of heat
and electricity.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
TOPIC 2- Measuring Motion in Terms of Distance and Time
OBJECTIVE-
-describe the motion of an object by tracing
and measuring it's change in position
(distance travelled) over a period of time
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
INTRODUCTION
-Pull or push as part of exerting force may also relative on the distance on the object when it is move from one point to another. However, distance is the measure of how far or near two points are from another. It can be measured using different ways such as time, landmark or body parts. For example, when you are going to school
the distance of the school from your house is two kilometers away and you spend one hour of walking just to get there in your school. This may not validate that
you spent less time going to school that going to church which is far
apart from the school. There are factors to be consider like traffic or winding road that can be affected your travel time. Therefore, there are
appropriate tools and ways to measure distance so that you can tell whether the object is near or far. Distance is measured by using tools such as meter stick, tape
measure, measuring wheel and ultrasonic distance measurer. On the other hand, the distance covered by a moving object is affected by speed, or the measure of how fast it moves. Speed of an object can be calculated by dividing the distance covered by an object in motion by the time spent to cover the distance.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WHAT IS SPEED?
Is the measure of the distance travelled in a period of time. It is calculated by dividing the unit
of distance travelled by a unit of time
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-The formula for speed is speed = distance ÷ time. To work out what the units are
for speed, you need to know the units for distance and time. In this example, distance is in metres (m) and time is in seconds (s), so the units will be in metres per second (m/s).
-distance or time using the formula d = st, distance equals speed times time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
REARRANGING THE FORMULA
1.distance= speed x time
2.distance= rate x time
3.speed= distance ÷ time
4.time= distance÷ speed
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TOPIC 2-How Light Interacts With Different Materials
OBJECTIVE-
-Relate the ability of the materials to block, absorb or transmit
light to its use
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The light that is visible to the human eye is called visible light. It is the small part of the electromagnetic spectrum which affects our vision. Light is propagated in space as electromagnetic waves. This is known as electromagnetic wave theory of light. The primary source of visible light is the sun. The visible light allows us to see the color that is not absorbed by the objects. For example, you see most plants as green because the leaves absorb all colors of the visible light except for green. The primary source of visible light is the sun. The visible light allows us to see the color that is not absorbed by the objects. For example, you see most plants as green because the leaves absorb all colors of the visible light except for green.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
REFRACTION
-It refers to the bending of light as it passes through different materials. For example, the pencil in the glass of water appears bent because of the different parts of the materials that interact with light. The part of the pencil that is not dipped in water interacts with the water. Light moves faster in air than in water When light travels from air to water, its speed decreases. A medium is optically dense if it slows down the speed of light. This is why the pencil looks bent.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
REFLECTION
-It refers to the bouncing back of light when it hits an object. Some objects with flat surfaces, like mirrors, reflect light in a straight, predictable way. Some objects with uneven surfaces, like rocks, reflect light in a scattered way.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ABSORTION
-It refers to material’s taking in light but not reflecting it back. For example, when light strikes a black surface, it is absorbed by the surface and nothing is reflected.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TRANSMISSION
-It refers to the passing of light through some materials. For example, when light passes through a glass window, it is transmitted to the other side, allowing the light to pass through the window.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TOPIC 3-How Light Interacts With Different Materials
OBJECTIVE
-Relate the ability of the materials to transmit light to its use
-identify translucent, transparent and opaque materials
-Give examples of transparent, translucent, and opaque materials
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TRANSMISSION
-It refers to the passing of light through some materials. For example, when light passes through a glass window, it is transmitted to the other side, allowing the light to pass through the window.
Materials can be classified according to what happens to the light that strikes them. A material can either allow light to pass through, make light bounce off or absorb light.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TRANSPARENT LIGHT
-A material that allows most of the light to pass through, or transmit light
Light easily pass through a transparent materials without being scattered.
Transparent materials make excellent color filters
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TRANSCULENT
-A material may also allow some light to pass through, the material scatters
the light rays. It may appear blurred
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OPAQUE MATERIALS
- A material that does not let light to pass through
Opaque materials cast a shadow or a dark area that has no light at all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CHIRSTIAN LIVING-PERIODICAL TEST
TOPIC 1-THE SECND BEATITUDE

OBJECTIVES
-Tell your sufferings and pain.
-Emphasize the importance of trusting God during times of trials
-Manifest the attitude of intimate fellowship with God amidst sufferings and trials in life
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------STORY-THE HEALING OF A CENTURION’S SLAVE
When Jesus had finished all his words to the people, he entered Capernaum. A centurion there had a slave who was ill and about to die, And he was valuable to him. When he heard about Jesus, he sent elders of the Jews, asking him to come and save the life of his slave. They approached Jesus and strongly urged him to come, saying “He deserves to have you do this for him, for he loves our nation and he built the synagogue for us,”
And Jesus went with them, but when he was only a short distance from the house, the centurion sent friends to tell him, “Lord do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof. Therefore, I did not consider myself worthy to come to you; but say the word and let my servant be healed. For I too am a person subject to authority, with soldiers subject to me. And I say to one, ‘Go” and he goes; and to another, Come here, and he comes; and to my slave, ‘Do this, and he does it.” When Jesus heard this he was amazed at him and, turning, said to the crowd following him, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith.” When the messengers returned to the house, they found the slave in good health.

Christ Has Died (CFC 551)
The Cross: Symbol of God’s Saving Love
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
God’s Plan for Men
God does not want men to suffer and die. God’s original idea for man was paradise: life forever and peace between God and man and their environment, between man and woman
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Christ Has Died
The whole earthly life of Christ came to its climax in his Paschal Mystery, his suffering, death and resurrection. The Cross of Christ is the symbol of salvation.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE CROSS: Symbol of God’s Saving Love
Clearly it is not the very sufferings and death of Christ that save us. Rather we are saved by Jesus’ perfect self-giving love for his Father and for us, a love lived out to the death.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WHAT'S THE SECOND BEATITUDE?
"Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted."

BROADENING OF HORIZONS
The spirit of Jesus gives us strength to overcome sufferings in the world and turn them into life-giving opportunities. Jesus never promised us a perfect and trouble-free life. As a disciples of Jesus, we are comforted because we are to bear one another’s burden, and so you will fulfil the law of Christ
(Gal 6:2)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TOPIC 2-HUMBLENESS
OBJECTIVES
- Describe the real meaning of poverty of heart
- Reflect on the significance of the poor for Christians
- Manifest the attitude of humbleness
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT
He began to teach them, saying:
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven”.
“Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted”.
“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land”.
“Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied”.
“Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy”.
“Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God”.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called peacemakers”.
“Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness for theirs is the kingdom of heaven”.
“Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you because of me”.
Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven. Thus they persecuted the prophets who were before you. ~Mt 5:1-12
