The main challenge of developing the apps

The main challenge of approach adopted in this project.




There are couple similar apps in the market. For example, Any.do. I had been using this app since I enter university.

Let’s explore Any.do app first. This app is quite popular. Until now, it was downloaded 5 million times. It was an award winning task app. I recap some features in below.

6. Add notes and attachment (Including pictures, video and recording)

There are some unique features of our app among similar apps that can be found in the market. First of all, it has simple and clean UI. All controllable components are within one page. User could see, understand and use all features very quickly. There are minimal label. Most indicative texts are embedded inside the text input field as a hint. It helps to make the whole screen look clean and simple but still remain explicit. Also, drop down navigation is used in action bar. The action bar drop down navigation acts as title as well as selection, making our screen design minimal. To make different list distinguishable, the app have a specific color scheme for each list. It is simple approach to avoid user entering their task in wrong list.

Another selling point is quick and easy to use. Our app allows users to manage their checklist very quickly. When users enter the home page which is personal list, they can immediately pick up where to start entering task by observing “Click to type” placeholder. Just a simple click, users can start to input. Pressed Enter key, item will be updated and “Item updated” is shown. The “” , “” and “X” button inside a list item clearly indicate record, play and remove operation. There is no stop button to stop recording because when user press and hold the “” button, it show a text “Recording start”, reminding user to start speaking. Once user finished speaking and release the “”button. It will show “Recorded” indicating recording finished.
Since “” and “” button are on the right of “” button, users could swiftly play the recording and remove this item.
Our app also considers the need of quick memo function because some task might take a long paragraph, or a long term task/goal that is not removed frequently. User can input within the same page.

One special feature is that there is a calendar for user quick check. It is often that user may plan their future task. They may need to check which day in a calendar and put down the date to the task list. Our app has “Date” button allowing user to quick check the calendar.

The last selling point is push notification. It is common that user forget to write down daily task. We have a daily notification at 9:00 am reminding user to plan his daily task.

I had been using this app since I entered university. I enjoyed it and this app inspire me to develop a checklist app.

This app used to be very simple: clean UI, few options and no account required. However, it changed a lot after couple updates. Those updates have both good side and bad side.
