Learning the Letter Sounds
Learning Letter Formation
Blending
Identifying Sounds in Words
Tricky Words
Below are illustrations and explanations of all five essential skills below.

1.Learning the Letter Sounds
Jolly-Phonics-Jolly-Reading
The most important 42 words from English are taught. every day, according to an order that is in the Jolly Phonics recommended purchase.

s , a , t , i ,p , n
ck , e , h , r , m , d
g ,o ,u ,l , f ,b
ai , j , oa , ie , ee , or
z , w , ng , v , oo , oo
y , x , ch , sh , th , th
qu , ou , oi , ue , er , ar
To introduce children and young children to alphabet, a multisensory approach is used. Each sound is given an introduction and an action, as well as an accompanying Sound Sheet. Children are more likely to recall the sound by doing something associated with the sound.

For instance, they can rub their stomachs and use the word "mmmmm", for the /m/ sound.

The sound 'r' is taught through doing actions with two hands spread across and moving like an aeroplane 'RRRRRRR ......'.

The sound 'h' could be taught by imagining that one is tired and makes 'ha ......' sounds.

Each child is given each child is given a distinct 'Sound' Book. Every day, the sound book is filled with the sound of the alphabet. The book can be stored and brought home with every child. Parents are encouraged to help children learn the sounds. This can be done via reading Sound Book and/or cutting up the letters. To be able to blend quickly, it's necessary to master the sounds of letters easily. The flashcards of every day should be displayed for youngsters to use as a visual aid. Two letters may represent certain sounds, called digraphs. Children should be capable of recognizing digraphs in words, like the 'ng' that is in the word'. Each digraph , 'oo' and "th" are two different sounds: e.g., book and moon thin and that. Jolly Phonics has them written in two sizes, at first to help children to learn these two sound.

2. Learning Letter Formation

The children are taught to correctly form each letter as they learn the sounds that each letter makes. At first, the teacher will ask the students to form the letters simultaneously in the air. After 12 weeks, the majority of children will be able to form letters properly by focusing on and writing each letter.

It is also crucial that children are taught how to hold their pencils in a proper manner with an ergonomic grip like the tripod.

Jolly Phonics makes use of the Sassoon Infant text face with joining tails. This makes it easier for children to learn written cursive (joined-up) spelling.

3. Blending
Jolly Phonics Blending-Jolly Reading
The children need to learn the sounds they hear and how to mix them together to form words. It starts on the first day. It is important that children hear the sound when their teacher talks. For example, "Listen carefully, what word do I say... d-o-g?" Children may detect "dog". Some other words are likely, such as'su", 'boy' or 'mou-se'.

After children learn to identify the sounds and hear the words being spoken, they'll be able to create their own words. To be able to read youngsters must be able mix letters fluently. This skill is crucial to begin and can be utilized to begin figuring out new words. Children must be able to recognize consonant digraphs and blend into words such as fl-a'g"' and "sh'o-p'.

Once children have learned the sounds of the letters and can read ordinary words, they may bring the Word Boxes home to practice. Word Boxes are words that can be made from the first set letter sounds. Children who learn to blend sounds swiftly become fluent readers.

In the beginning, only one method of spelling vowels are taught. The children should be able of mixing the spellings into words before they are taught alternative spellings.

Once the children have finished their Word Boxes and discovered some peculiar words, they ought to be provided with books of stories. Inform parents that their child cannot bring home a book until they've learned the art of blending. Parents should be encouraging children to discuss the books they've read.

4. Identifying Sounds in Words
Making out sounds in words-Jolly Reading
Children must be able to hear individual sounds in words. This is especially important for writing. Children will be required to be attentive and inquire if they recognize specific sounds within the words. For example, "Is there an's" in "sun", "mouse", or "dog '?"; "If there's an's", where is it coming from - the middle, end, or beginning?" Then, you can encourage children to make use of the sounds they hear. You can do this by using a word like 'hat'. Children should respond by saying 'h-a't. They should put up one finger for each sound. ,... "h-a-t" three fingers representing three different sounds and'sh-ip' three fingers to make three sound. It is possible to move onto more complicated words, such as those with initial and final consonant blends.

As the children speak as they speak, the teacher writes the letters onto the chalkboard. The children then take a look at the word and make the sounds. They blend the sounds in order to read the word. This will help you gain a better comprehension of writing and reading. This skill can be developed by practicing a couple of examples every day.

A child is able writing independently when they're able to hear or write sounds. Although they won't be capable of spelling correctly at first but their work will be read. In the course of the first year, the majority of children should be able to write simple reports and stories independently. They can write whatever they want, because they don't have to stick to the words that they are familiar with. The art of spelling correctly takes time, as well as reading books and learning the various vowel sounds.

5. Tricky Words
tricky-words-jolly-phonics Jolly Reading
In the first month, many children have become familiar with 18 letter sounds. They've also learned how to blend regular words together in a group exercise. After that, they will begin to master difficult words. Words that are tricky cannot be combined. These words are introduced slowly with the Jolly Phonics Tricky word Cards. Check out the 'tricky" aspect of each word. For instance, "was" has an"o/" sound instead of an/a/ sound. It is recommended that you instruct 2-3 times per week and keep on top of spelling and reading.

These spelling strategies can be used: (Cover, Write and Examine)

Say It as It Sounds. For example, you can pronounce 'mother' with a short sound /o/ so it rhymes with "bother.

Mnemonics are used to spell the word "people" (e.g., "people eat omelets people love eggs")

Jolly Phonics was thoroughly researched and was found to be extremely efficient. Here are a few quotes from three research projects that dealt with synthetic Phonics. One of them was in England and one within Scotland in Scotland and Canada. Synthetic Phonics is a method that focuses on the learning of individual letter sounds and how they can be combined to create words. That is Jolly Phonics' core approach to teaching.

International Research & Study :
Reading 3.6 years ahead of their chronological age Spelling 1.9 years earlier than their chronological age Comprehension 3.5 months ahead Boys who read 9.5 months ahead of girls Boys spelling 8.6 months before girls
Demo: He has just finished Phonics as a student in Sr. KG. He is now going to First. Indian Mythological stories have difficult words that can't always be read Phonetically but he is reading them all with great efficiency. We focus on the reading process that allows kids to become efficient Independent Readers and does not require them to do Advanced Phonics
The Research:
"Jolly Phonics children were twelve months ahead of the expected level in reading ability for their age." "The synthetic phonics classes performed better than the whole language classes on 16 of 19 reading or spelling measures" "Jolly Phonics was able to produce long-lasting results, as demonstrated by the data."
Demo: He's just done Phonics during Sr. KG. The next step is going to First. Indian Mythological stories have difficult words which can't be always read Phonetically however he's reading all very efficiently. The focus is on reading that helps kids to become proficient Independent Readers and do not need the students to complete Advanced Phonics
