Pot. The pot refers to the money that the players bet in a hand of poker. As players make raises and calls, the pot can often grow in size.
This aspect of poker was first discovered by me while playing in a cash game, short-handed. I was on the buttons with a marginal poker hand for a quick-handed cash game (A-J) when I decided that I wanted to raise. The small blind folded, but the big blind instantly called me.
Take your time. You should take your time to consider every decision. Think through how your opponent has acted in previous hands, what he could have that beats you, what he could have that you beat and whether you have the Expected Value to call.

The highest two-card hand is the best, so it is important to leave the five-card hand behind. A player can expect a medium-high to high five-card hand, with an Ace at the top.
