We actually made history by doing that, like, coming out… we made history! We got to have a quick chat with Ayra about what it’s like being signed to Mavin Records, her inspiration behind her hit song ‘Away’, her favorite skin care products and more. In January 2021, she was signed to Don Jazzy’s Mavins Record. She released her EP titled Ayra Starr thereafter. “Away”, which is the lead single off the EP, peaked at number four on Nigeria’s Turn Table Top 50 Chart. The track was included in Okay Africa’s list of 9 Best Nigerian songs of January 2021. She also starred as a video vixen in the music video of “Dear Future Wife” – a song by young Nigerian Afro-RnB singer, Eri Ife.

After posting a series of covers on Instagram, Ayra was discovered by acclaimed record executive/producer Don Jazzy and was subsequently signed to Mavin Records. Having spearheaded the careers of luminaries Wande Coal, D’Banj, Tiwa Savage and Rema, Don Jazzy and Mavin Records are set to launch Ayra as West Africa’s first female global teen superstar. Ayra Starr started making music at a very young age. Initially, she sang cover of popular Niger songs and posts them on her Instagram page.
