Imagine you're just starting to play your hunter, not knowing any pets to get. Well, I hope this guide will be able to help you choose the best pet for your hunter, or will it be ERROR for you to try and use a pet that is not the best!
WoW hunters are like any class, there are totally varying forms of damage dealing abilities you can equip your hunter with, and so forth. Regardless, no matter which way you choose to specialize your hunter, there are basically 3 very good ways to pick out the best hunter pets.
1. Tank pets
Or tanking is simply putting yourself in the situation where you areWarsongswallowing your pet around. A tank will ensure that, at the least, your pet will be able to keep up with you and not getpinned around corner or otherwise overwhelmed.
Watch your targets approach. If they don't rush, or are deciding to slow their approach, a tank will be able to agro targets a lot easier. And that is exactly what you want, right?
2. DPS class pets
These kinds of pets are the ones that, in my opinion, are the most fun to look at. To put it like a bear, they are like a tank, except with DPS capabilities. DPS class pets, Lance or Bite, Cat or Bear, are able to deal a ton of damage, and do it from range.
Like tank pets, DPS pets are usually highly specialized. With DPS abilities, you have skills like charge, Slam, Snare, and also traps to add to your arsenal. So what I recommend you to do is to add on traps and snare skills as you get them. Then decay your opponent with this combination early on.
3. game 8 bit !
This is the type of pet that you really HAVE to have early on. Don't rely on one pet, although they are great in some situations. Try to collect them all, as they act as a " Bowl Ring" in many situations.
PvP pets should have basic abilities like charge and stun. Beyond that, they should also have abilities like stun this, interrupt this, and trap this. No matter how many skills you have, PvP pets still win in PvP combat. Try to think of battlegrounds as real battles in World of Warcraft. If your pet can take a ton of damage while dealing the same amount of damage back, you have an upper hand, and a good PvP pet will help you do that.
