A United Airlines Travel Blog with Ideas on How to Save Money on Your Next Trip: A blog about how you can save money for your next trip.
1. Intro

United Airlines, the world’s largest airline, is a global network of carriers owned and operated by United Continental Holdings, Inc. The company operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of United States-based United Parcel Service (UPS).
United Airlines was founded in 1919 as a mail carrier by Charles Corridon and Henry E. Harrison, who operated a network of local routes between Chicago and the Midwest while seeking to expand into the New York market. In 1946, the airline began its international service with flights to London's Gatwick Airport. In 1968, it added flights to Hong Kong; in 1976 it added flights to Japan (Tokyo Narita); and in 1977, it started service to Singapore. Eventually there were also flights from Newark Airport in New Jersey to London Gatwick Airport.
In 1978, United became a full partner of Trans World Airlines (TWA), buying all TWA's passenger operations in North America.
In 1985, with deregulation of U.S. airlines under way after years of pressure from unions and environmental groups, the company launched its first international flight on an Airbus A320 aircraft between Newark and Tokyo Narita International Airport for Japan Air Lines [JAL]. It was followed by additional international services from Newark to Tokyo Narita International Airport as well as Frankfurt am Main International Airport and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport in France.[29] In 1987 United entered Canada with two daily flights between Boston Logan International Airport near Boston and Toronto Pearson International Airport near Toronto.[30] One year later they launched transatlantic flights between New York JFK International Airport near New York City and London Heathrow International airport outside London.[31]
United had long been among the world's largest airlines by revenue.[32] By 1998 it had grown its fleet from 60 aircraft through 2001,[33] including Boeing 727-200 aircraft that began operating with United from 1992 on.[34][35] In 2000 United shipped more cargo than passenger luggage,[36][37][38] while by 2011 it shipped more cargo than passengers on average days.[39][40][41]
In 2015 Continental Airlines acquired 82% of the shares outstanding,[42] giving them control over all routes operated by UAL;[43] however this did not change their previous policy regarding allowing travel alliances into their system as long as they were given access to serve both UAL-operated flights within Continental's network[44][45], thereby maintaining their longstanding policy on alliance membership across Continental's network[46].

2. Baggage Fees Explained

United Airlines is the world's largest airline and the fourth largest in the world by air passenger traffic. It is a major American airline that provides non-stop service between the U.S., Europe, and Asia, as well as a code-sharing service to other airlines. United Airlines' history can be traced back to 1948 when it was founded by Dr. United Airline phone numbers . In 1967, after consolidating with many smaller airlines into Continental Airlines Group (then called Trans World Airlines), the airline was rebranded United Continental Airlines (UCA).
In 2008, UCA merged with Continental Airlines to form United Continental Holdings Inc., which is now United Airlines.

3. How to Get the Cheapest Airfare

United Airlines is a major airline which currently flies to many different destinations. The airline also carries baggage. I’ve written a blog post about how you can get the cheapest airfare and some tips on how to do that.
This has been a popular topic on Reddit and in the travel community, so I thought it would be interesting to create a blog post that puts things into perspective for travelers who are just starting out in the United States, and might not have much experience with airfares.

4. How to Get the Cheapest Airfare and Save Money on Baggage Fees

United Airlines has its own travel insurance, but it's not cheap. In fact, it's one of the cheapest ways to get around the world. A $1 billion company with a market cap of $20 billion, United's sky-high operating costs are making travel more expensive than ever before. This is especially true for frequent flyers who have to use their low-cost miles for even cheaper ticket prices on other airlines.
United Airlines currently offers two insurance products: United MileagePlus Gold, which provides a $300 flight cancellation and/or $300 emergency medical reimbursement (depending on size of trip) if you aren't flying at least one outbound leg within 30 days; and United MileagePlus Premier, which provides a $450 flight cancellation and/or $500 emergency medical reimbursement if you are flying at least one outbound leg within 30 days. Both policies require you to pay the full amount upfront so that unplanned expenses won't be covered by your insurance policy and will be paid by your airline when they arrive in your local airport.

5. Measuring Your Strategy's Success

United Airlines is one of the world's largest and oldest airlines. It operates in over 240 countries and serves some of the most important airports in the world, notably LaGuardia, Newark, Chicago and London Heathrow. United Airlines has over 16,000 employees and is a subsidiary of United Continental Holdings Inc.
