Candy travelled full-time with The Hemphills for 18 years, during which time the group won 6 Dove Awards and Joel was nominated 10 times by GMA for Songwriter Of The Year. In music , upon the group’s retirement, Candy began to travel with her evangelist husband, Kent Christmas… while, occasionally, recording solo. But, despite a supportive husband and the joy Candy found in bringing up her 2 children, she began to suffer from ever increasing bouts of depression.
