How to Get Rid of the Hidden Fees When Booking Your Flight With Spirit Airlines: A blog around hidden charges when flying with Spirit Airlines.

I have been a traveler for a very long time. I have traveled with many airlines, including some of the world's most famous brands. I have flown with Spirit Airlines, on more than one occasion (more than 50). My experience has been positive and I can vouch for the integrity of their service.
Spirit Airlines is a low-cost carrier from its inception as Allegiant Air in 2010. Allegiant paid its employees above $1 billion in wages in 2016 and had the second best profit margin (after Hawaiian Airlines) at about 18% of revenue. The airline started out flying to Las Vegas, Orlando, Phoenix and Tampa-St. Petersburg but today covers over 70 destinations in the U.S., Mexico and Canada including New York (Ford & LaGuardia), Boston (Manchester & Logan), Washington DC (Boeing), Chicago & Miami; Dallas/Fort Worth; Houston & San Antonio; Minneapolis/St Paul; New York City; Philadelphia; Portland & Sacramento; and Seattle(Paine Field).

Spirit Airlines has its eyes on becoming one of the biggest airlines in the world, as a result of its recent acquisitions. However, it's taken some time to build that business up, so one common question from customers is: "How do I get the most space from my bag?" Spirit does allow customers to choose what type of bags they want to bring onto their flight. There are two options: 1) a single medium-sized bag; or 2) two medium-sized bags (or three large ones). The minimum size you are allowed to carry is medium-sized. So buying bags isn't a good option if you want to bring more than one medium-sized bag.
To make sure your bag fits well on your plane, here's how many inches you can take up with your suitcase.
If your suitcase has dimensions: x x -You'll be able to fit up to x inches (both sides).

x + X +You'll be able to fit up to x++ inches (both sides).
x - Y You'll be able to fit up to y inches with both arms outstretched and your head facing forward.

Spirit Airlines is one of the best airlines around when it comes to online booking. They allow you to pay for pre-flight bags (while booking online) EVEN if you don't have your own bag.
They also don't charge a fee with a carry-on bag even if you have one. You can pay as little as $30 and it's worth it!
Here's how:
1. Log in to your Spirit Airlines account, select the "My Account" option at the top right of the screen and then select "Booking Preferences."
2. Click on "Shipping & Package Delivery" in the left-hand menu and scroll down to "Shipment & Delivery." Here you will see your flight details for that particular flight under "Shipping Information." Your flight is highlighted in blue. If this is not your flight, click on it to view details of how much it costs to use Spirit Airlines for that particular flight.
3. Click on the "Shipment & Delivery" tab at the bottom of this page and then scroll down to "Baggage Fees." In Spirit airline reservations , click on the link next to each carrier (Spirit Airlines, Alaska Air, American Eagle), and then click on Get Bagged while viewing your flight details, which will take you straight there. If all went well, you should see a green dot appearing next to each airline's name (if any). Clicking on it should take you directly into their website where you can do any necessary shopping online or book online here in advance just like before! The price will be listed with each carrier below so that you can compare and choose which airline gives you the best deal!

The easiest way to avoid being cheated is to book your flight online. With Spirit Airlines' website you can check availability and book flights in a matter of minutes. This means that you only pay when you actually travel!
When booking online, there are a few fees that may need to be paid:
1) Airline fee - $20. A $20 fee applies to a ticket purchased online with Spirit airline s. If you have never flown with Spirit Airlines before then this could be the one that surprises you the most! You'll pay it when purchasing your ticket but not until after the booking has been confirmed by the airline's website
2) Baggage fee - $25 per bag or $35 for two bags (this will vary depending on where in the country you're going) per flight
3) Check-in fee - $30 per person/per bag (this is charged separately and covers both baggage fees and check-in fees)
4) Foreign currency fees - up to $10 on international flights and up to $8 in domestic flights
5) American Eagle charge – American Eagle charges apply to all flights with Spirit Airlines except for Mileage Plus members who do not pay any additional charges for flying with American Eagle on their account
