1. Intro


Spirit Airlines is an American airline based in Plano, Texas, USA. It operates scheduled international and domestic flights in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the United Kingdom.
The airline was founded in 1996 as a joint venture between Clipper Air Inc. and Continental Airlines Holdings. It launched on April 16th of that year with three DC-9-10B aircraft (DC-9-10C), commonly referred to as "Spirit Fokkers", entering service to nonstop flights from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to San Juan, Puerto Rico; Denver International Airport (DEN); and London Heathrow Airport (LHR).
Following its initial launch phase, Spirit canceled about ten more DC-9 aircraft for maintenance in order to maintain its low fuel burn profile. On March 31st 1997 Spirit officially completed its historic first flight with a Boeing 727 leased from Braniff International (Braniff then owned the DC-9 aircraft). The first flight was from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport to Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport on October 17th 1997.
In 1999 Spirit Airlines began operating as an independent company again and launched new routes such as Miami–Fort Lauderdale; and Washington – D.C., which had been previously offered by Braniff and Continental Airlines in 1993 and 1994 respectively.[1]
In June 2003 Spirit filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection under United States Bankruptcy Court jurisdiction based on financial difficulties caused by falling passenger traffic.[2][3]
On September 14th 2006 Spirit announced that it would be rebranding its fleet with a new livery featuring blue fasces upon request.[4] In December 2006 Spirit introduced a new ticketing system known as AAdvantage Gold Plus which allowed passengers who qualified for elite status to fly business class or First Class at significantly cheaper rates than their non-elite counterparts.[5]
On May 20th 2009 Spirit introduced nonstop service between Washington–Ditmars Air Force Base – New York City (EWR) – Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport - Miami Florida with one flight daily departing Fort Lauderdale at 5:00AM local time on weekdays only.[6][7] In November 2010 Spirit added daily service between New York JFK – Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport at 8:30AM local time Monday through Friday.[8] On November 14th 2010 Spirit served their 10 millionth customer [9], becoming the seventh airline over this period

This is a personal blog for me, and I hope it will be useful for you. I’m writing as a traveler, businessperson, and general consumer. I’ve been flying Spirit Airlines since 2011 (I was on the first flight out of Fort Lauderdale). In that time, I have been able to fly through three different planes (Spirit 727-200, 737-300 and 757-200), as well as several aircraft types (Spirit Airbus A320, A319, A320LR), all in the US.
I have also flown Spirit Airlines many times to Asia and Europe — so I can share some of my experiences with you when it comes to getting the best deals on flights.

1)Flights between major cities are only $99/person for roundtrip flights. Flights within major U.S. cities are always $99/person; no need to pay more than $119/person for roundtrip flights within U.S. major cities unless you book a super small economy class seat; just the cheapest seats are always $109/person if booked online or over the phone; if booking an economy class seat on an airline like Continental or American Eagle then you can usually fly economy class for only $69/person
2)Flights between U.S.-Canada are only $99/person for roundtrip; no need to pay more than $119/person for roundtrip flights within Canada; this is because Spirit is part of SkyTeam (as opposed to oneworld which flies under its own name). This applies whether you book your flight directly through Spirit Airlines or through American / Continental / Delta; there is no need to pay any additional fees or taxes by booking through these airlines when flying through Canada. However, if you book your flight with one of these airlines as well as with Spirit Airlines then there is a minimum fee that must be paid by each carrier in order for your ticket to be eligible for the discounted price . . . otherwise all will be charged full price
3)Flights from major U.S.-Canada airports are only $99/person for roundtrip;


6. Conclusion


Spirit Airlines has been a huge part of my life since I was a young teenager. Having used the airline as a teenager, I will admit that I have always loved it, and it has been something that I’ve always prided myself on.
But I’ve also never really understood how they were able to create such amazing deals, so cheap flights and award travel, at all times of the year. It’s hard to believe how much money people save by using Spirit Airlines, especially when you consider how much you save by using them.
I mean sometimes it seems like they literally make more revenue off their customer service than they do on their fuel sales. Their customer service is so amazing that they are able to charge anything from $5 to $200 per minute just for checking your email! And not just any email but spam and junk that should be ignored!
They have never let me down in terms of ever trying to fix my issues, even with years of traveling through the airline. In fact, whenever there is a glitch or an issue with the plane or flight, they can usually figure out where everything is going wrong pretty quick (if not fixed). They are amazing!
And unfortunately for me, that meant that I had to fly with Spirit at some point in my life (when there were no great deals). When you factor in all of the time spent sitting on planes and listening to your mother cry about how she can’t afford to go on vacation because her kids are spending money on airfare while she’s living paycheck-to-paycheck while trying to pay bills and meet payroll… well… you get the picture.
So as someone who has used Spirit Airlines extensively over the years, I want everyone else who loves this airline as well as me (and every other person) to know about its current deal. The best one yet! To help out people who may be thinking about flying with Spirit Airlines this coming season (or any upcoming season), including anyone considering booking their next trip through them or even looking for ways to save even more money on future trips:
