Different Types Of Poker Games
Most people try to get far too clever when they're betting. They'll try and figure out if the opponent has a weak hand so they can bluff. Or they'll check in hopes that their opponent will bet so they can check raise.

There are two basic strategies that work in Sit n Go tournaments. Tight aggressive(TAG) and loose aggressive (LAG) are strategies you must be familiar with and able to play if you want to be successful.

poker betting strategy When I'm in late position, I'll throw out a continuation bet against two people if they both check to me. Against 3 or more opponents, I won't c-bet at all unless I have a strong hand.

Check Raise: This is also known as trapping. The check raise works by acting weak in hopes of hiding your strength. With any luck, this will encourage a bluff or at least a misinformed bet from your opponent to get him to put his chips to the pot.

With enough practice at the guessing game - continually guessing and checking, guessing and checking - you will be able to more and more accurately know what hands the other players have.

If there is more than 1 opponent in the pot and I'm in early position, I don't c-bet unless I have a hand. This rule sounds predictable but it rarely causes a problem. If I played against the same group of people on a regular basis, I would mix it up occasionally. But for the average poker player, this is just fine.
