How can you keep up with the latest music trends in your country of origin even if you have lived there for more than 10 years

How are you getting on? I am a Russki boy who came to America in search of an improved lifestyle. In Russia I was not wealthy, and certainly not in the middle class. My family, and not me. As a young adult in Russia, money was not an essential requirement. We had to find ways of earning money. Many different strategies, most similar to asking neighbors for a few dollars for their vodka bottles. The idea is the same. We would look for fast money to buy bread or to get to work. We would always be hungry.

So, I finally made it to America. It's nothing as beautiful as New York, Brooklyn, Brighton Beach. I've spent quite a bit of money there, mostly in Russian restaurants and bookstores.

Music is my obsession however books are my favorite. Recently, it was revealed, you can find Russian literature on Kindle. This is why I no longer buy hard copy books. Additionally, I don’t have enough space in my house. My wife is almost an avid collector. Therefore I do what I can to prevent adding to her clutter. Books in stacks looks smart in the beginning, but after that they only looked sad, until I put them in garage, where there's still plenty of space left to store my belongings..


Music, however, is a different thing. I love music because my work requires me to drive far distances and I listen to a lot. As a Russian immigrants, it's tough for me to appreciate the music that I listen to in America. I'm not a fan of hip hop or rap. I also don't like the new-age stuff kids like to dance to. Old Russian music is one of my favorites, especially the prison-type songs. They are still quite popular even though I have been away for over twenty years. Youtube now has all the data. You can find me on Youtube for hours, even after work.

So, after a few months I've created a nice long playlist of more than 300 songs I really enjoy. Having this treasure on repeat throughout the day and night, I have no problem getting used to music, because there's 300 songs. That's a lot. As I am now at the top of the list, I record some songs from Youtube and then convert them to mp3 files. Then , I save the mp3s on a CD using my laptop. I then take the CD to my car and listen to it in the. It's then easy to convert it to an audio CD. Sometimes, I'm a mess and create data CD. It won't play on the old stereo in my car. The quality of the recorded audio is incredible. I don’t need any internet to play mp3 music. I just insert CDs into my car stereo slot. When I reach Manhattan the music from Russia is heard in the background.

y2mate It's simple and inexpensive to download videos from Youtube as mp3 and then you can download them to your Smartphone. A friend of mine connected his iPhone to the car stereo, and within a few moments, it was playing very excellent sound quality. He also could stream Spotify as well as Pandora radio. This doesn't require too much Internet. This is something I would consider trying. But, I'll make sure to not make use of the wifi that is free.
