A Historical Journey To The Past Newbridge Village

Newbridge is really a small tourist village inside Central West of NSW that welcomes visitors and campers. It is really a great tourist spot to visit with good food offered by the Gladstone Hotel, visit the Art Gallery (Olde Bridge Gallery) , see the Craft Shop, or camp in the Showground. Newbridge is located about 32 km from Bathurst and about 29 km from Trunkey Creek The locality was known as Back Creek or Reedy Creek, but renamed Newbridge on April 15 1878 when an overhead road traffic bridge was built on the railway line.


Newbridge was founded like a gold mining town, the Post Office opening on 1 February 1856. Newbridge village developed round the railway line and station which was built in 1876. Newbridge is a popular camping and fishing location with campsites available down the river. A point of pride for the town, the community have kept the building beautifully maintained, and Newbridge has won several awards first of the finest presented stations within the state.


One of Australia's oldest and largest regional galleries presenting innovative exhibitions alongside a dynamic and varied suite of public programs and events. If you would like to see a few of the displays through the Camera Group then visit Ye Olde Gallery in the corner of Trunkey and Caloola Street in Newbridge.


The Newbridge Winter Solstice is really a day of medieval magic and music. It takes place in the pub (closed for that occasion) and on the Gladstone Green. The entertainment has contained magic shows, Viking fighting displays inside afternoon (from Iron Fest participants), food stalls, Morris Dancers, many market stalls, two bands (one inside the afternoon and another for the night), horse display, street entertainment and other activities for that younger people. There is going to be drink offered by the Gladstone Hotel (Strong Ale, Draft Guinness along with other merry-making fortifications too!). There will probably be Related Site to suit everyone (vegetarians included) from food stalls at the same time as the Pub. Most people is going to be wearing Medieval Costume to enhance the merriment.


The highlight of a special afternoon festivities will likely be the lighting and burning from the Wickerman about the large bonfire at 5pm. People are encouraged to buy small Wickermen earlier, write their problems for the tag and later on throw them on the fire to get them burnt away!
