A Historical Journey To The Past Newbridge Village

Newbridge is a small tourist village in the Central West of NSW that welcomes visitors and campers. It is really a great tourist location to visit with good food offered at the Gladstone Hotel, look at the Art Gallery (Olde Bridge Gallery) , investigate Craft Shop, or camp with the Showground. Take a ramble with the village with its interesting background great scenery to understand more about. Newbridge is situated about 32 km from Bathurst contributing to 29 km from Trunkey Creek The locality was generally known as Back Creek or Reedy Creek, but renamed Newbridge on April 15 1878 when an overhead road traffic bridge was built on the railway line.


Newbridge was founded being a gold mining town, the Post Office opening on 1 February 1856. Newbridge village developed throughout the railway line and station that was built-in 1876. Newbridge can be a popular camping and fishing location with campsites available across the river. A point of pride for the town, town have kept your building beautifully maintained, and Newbridge has won a number of awards for just one of the best presented stations inside state.

The Newbridge Winter Solstice is often a day of medieval magic and music. It takes place in the pub (closed for the occasion) as well as on the Gladstone Green. The entertainment has was comprised of magic shows, Viking fighting displays inside the afternoon (from Iron Fest participants), food stalls, Morris Dancers, many market stalls, two bands (one within the afternoon and another for the night), horse display, street entertainment as well as other activities to the younger people. There will be drink available from the Gladstone Hotel (Strong Ale, Draft Guinness as well as other merry-making fortifications as well!). There will probably be ample food to fit everyone (vegetarians included) from food stalls as well as the Pub. Most people will be dressed in Medieval Costume to enhance the merriment.


The highlight of manufactured festivities is going to be the lighting and burning from the Wickerman about the large bonfire at 5pm. People are inspired to buy small Wickermen earlier, write their problems around the tag and then throw them for the fire to possess them burnt away!
