CHAPTER SIX: Preparations

"Alright, so we need- food, water, first aid kits we do need, we also might need more clothes- actually do we?" "Ava, calm down, we have everything under control, you've been overthinking this whole plan since we told you the truth," it's now been a month since I talked to Sal, and she was still saying she didn't wanna go, Ava was overthinking the plan, while they did that, Avery and Lewis focused on training the kids, and they were all doing so well surprisingly, I never got another letter from whoever sent that last letter. But even so, things are going so well! Father had no idea we knew, and I found out the next shipment would be on the 16th of January by eavesdropping! Which is great! Well- bad because there's a shipment- but great that we know, so our idea was to execute the plan on January 15th, we had it all planned out, Ava put herself in charge of making a list of everything we needed, such as medicine and bandages in case we get sick or injured, food, water, and anything else we might need, Lewis and Avery were training everyone, and Angel and I had nothing to do, we kinda just helped whoever we could whenever we wanted to help, sometimes we just monitored everything, I stuck more with Lewis and Avery because I myself wanted to train and get faster, Angel helped Ava more since he clearly didn't need training, he was the fastest out of all of us, by now we had everything planned out, and everyone was in on it, it was amazing, I went to the library and grabbed a book, I sat down and Angel walked in, "Hey," "Why are you sitting here reading? It's play time," "I know but... I might as well just relax for a second, we only have about a month until we have to leave, and we still don't even know who sent the letter," "Is that what you're so worried about? Finding out who our ally is?" I closed the book, "No, just curious on who it could be, also, why don't we take some books with us, they might tell us how to survive," I went up to a shelf to grab a book, and Angel sat down on a chair, "I don't think this is the best idea," "What do you mean? The books? Yeah you're right, maybe they're not-" "No, not the books, the plan, escaping and all," my eyes widened, 'not a good idea? He's the first one who was willing to help me put all this together', "Why? After all, why do you think it's bad? Would you rather die here?" He looked down at the table, I couldn't see his face, his back was facing me, "Angel?" I was seriously worried, "I'm just saying, what if we die out there, what if we get caught? I can't-" he cut himself off sharply, "Can't what? Angel? Seriously, I'm starting to get worried, you're not actually planning on-" "No, I'm not, it's just- taking everyone? I know we could make it if it was just you, me, and Lewis, maybe even with Ava and Avery, but even so, everyone?" I sighed, "I know we'll make it, please, just trust me with this, my plan will work, we'll all escape..." I wish I could say that it was true, "Alright, I will," he walked to the door and held the door knob, "Also, about taking the books, we might actually need them to survive, but take only a few, alright?" And with that he opened the door and walked off, I started collection books, but I kept thinking, 'we might not make it, I never told them about how they're guarding the bridge... I just have to hope my plan works...' I sighed and took some books. Seconds turned into minutes, minutes turned into hours, hours turned into days, which soon turned into weeks, before I knew it, three weeks had passed, and now we were only about 5 days away from our escape, we just had to be prepared, we had everything we needed, the only problem was that we might have to listen to the note and cut off our ears, there was no way of getting rid of the trackers, even so, the kids were incredibly fast now, games of tag took a lot more time now, even when Lewis was it, and it was all because the kids were so much faster, and I was able to beat Lewis at a game of tag today! I almost couldn't believe it, finally, after years of loosing, I actually beat him! But that's besides the point, right now, it was midnight, and we all sat at the library, by 'all' I meant me, Angel, Lewis, Ava, and Avery. Ava spoke up first, "I can't believe my idea is actually working, we're gonna get out of here, she smiled, "We're gonna leave this place behind..." I cut in, "It feels so surreal, we've all lived here so happily... we thought this was really an orphanage... and even so... we're now just gonna leave it all behind..." Avery put a hand on my shoulder, "It's okay, we're gonna be okay, I promise you, we're all gonna leave this horrid place behind..." I smiled at her, "Thank you..."
