The Most Famous Peninsulas of Ireland

Placed contained County Down, the Ards Peninsula creates an attractive vista with Strangford Lough shaping a nearly semi-circular peninsula wanting out there at the Irish Sea. It is without doubt the most unusual shaped peninsula on the island of Ireland, majority of who are far more sharply fjord like defined. The Ards Peninsula is well populated with busy town of Newtownards for the north of it being the largest settlement. Portaferry is a gorgeous village on to the south where there's an automobile ferry to permit you cross on the County Down mainland. Another very attractive village located there's Portavogie and the peninsula is an excellent base for sea fishing inside the Irish Sea and the Strangford Lough itself. Newtownards has a multitude of accommodation whilst more south hotel accommodation is deficient but much more than compensated by many guesthouse and B&Bs that supply a warm welcome and give the person. Sights to see include Grey Abbey, which is the ruins of an old Cistercian Monastery, and Mount Stewart, that is an 18th century mansion and gardens open to everyone in the summer period.


Dingle Peninsula


Probably the most prominent and visited peninsula for Ireland, the Dingle Peninsula is located in the heartland of tourism found Ireland, County Kerry. There so many attractions with this stretch of coastline which they merit a guide in its very own right. Foremost is the gorgeous town of Dingle, a town of about 2,000 people that swells to about two million, it seems, in the summer days. The town offers so many attractions and is a great base for exploration of the general Kerry area. Lively pubs, a welter of accommodation coming from hostels on the five star Dingle Skelligs Hotel, a great range of eating places to rival Kinsale within neighbouring Cork as gourmet capital of Ireland can make Dingle a compulsory stop on any vacation in the region.


Among the driving plays up of the Dingle Peninsula is negotiating the Conor Pass, the highest mountain pass in Ireland, throughout the top of Mount Brandon at about 1,000 metres. On a great ay the views are spectacular although days which are good are difficult to arrive by as fog on the peak is a frequent occurrence. You will find really quaint character villages on the Dingle Peninsula. Ventry is the place of well known footballer Paidi O'Se whose Ventry Inn pub is essential see. Inch, having its enormous strand, was the location of the film Ryan's Daughter, whilst Annascaul, Ballyferriter and Ballydavid offer amazing vistas and conventional shops and pubs by a bygone era. Among the terrific drives in Ireland, the Dingle Peninsula will leave you with only one desire - to go back.
