How I become active in social networks
----------by Melody Koh----------
Social medias such as Skype, Facebook and Twitter are one of life's new ways of socializing/communicating through the internet. Most people use mobile phones while others communicate through a computer.

This is how I become active in social networks. Back in the day, I have no idea what a computer is or how does a mobile phone work. I was spending most of my time in Elementary school and hanging out with my friends. When the iPhone was invented, people started buying these new technology devices. I was left blank for I didn't know what they were.

When I had my own Computer, all I ever did on it was play online games which was silly. As I grew up to a mature age, I gained more experience in terms of virtual-reality. I then developed an interest for games. My first ever game was a First-Person-Shooter (FPS). It was called CounterStrike. I enjoyed it's graphics and story of it. The game had a Multiplayer which allows you to play online with other gamers. I didn't know how to operate anything so I basically looked like a newbie. As I progressed in that game, I start to learn new words. Words that are inappropriate for children my age. But, the generation nowadays are different and they understand the meaning of these new aggressive words.

After that, I moved on to another game because I found my previous game not fun and it wasn't suitable for my age anyway. I began to study on this cute little sandbox game, Minecraft. Its graphics aren't the best, but its unique. The thing I love about this game is the people. I see them as friendly, nice, daring and smart. Being curious, I browsed through forum after forums about Minecraft, watching videos on a "Let's Play" and basically being a nerd about the game. Education did affect on me. I improved a little in my main language; English.

My brother was watching a video on my mother's phone one day. Out of curiousity, I asked him what it was. He told me it was "Minecraft" and began downloading the Pocket Edition version of Minecraft for mobile phones. I watched him play the game for a few minutes and decided to try it out for myself on the computer. I somehow managed to install the cracked version of the game. The first server I ever joined was called 'Minebuilders'. I never knew it was a community until I found out after a certain age. I began with nothing in the game with a friend of mine whom I know in real life, Valerie.

We started off as newbies. Struggling through our days as survivors. I still remember the days where we make houses and then someone comes over to destroy it. So, we had to start all over. After some time, I installed the software, Skype. Since then, we called each other via Skype and played the game. It was all going well until I had to leave. After a long loss from the internet, I returned to continue the game with her. But after that, she wasn't interested. So, I continued to play along without her.

Each day, I discover new servers to play in Minecraft. It was fun and I even got friends already. I soon forgot all about the first server I discovered; Minebuilders. One day, I stumbled across my old files and came across that server. When I rejoined, everything changed into something new. From there, I start over and finally became part of the community by purchasing a rank. I also play other games besides Minecraft such as, osu!. osu! is another unique game which I play with Valerie. It's a rythm game where you connect the dots and listen to the music. I find it fun and that's basically my everyday life in virtual-reality.

There's a guy I know in Minecraft who likes me. We both play in the game together and I play in another game with Valerie together. I have both of they're contacts in skype and we communicate everyday. I have loads of other friends in skype too and they're all from all around the world. I keep in touch with them and I am glad the internet was invented. Maybe when I travel one day, I might come across one of my friends whom I know over the internet! That's how I become active in social networks. Will you too?

The End.
