SariAgri - Gubernur Jawa Timur, Khofifah Indar Parawansa terlihat senang saat menunjukan ikan malong di Pelabuhan Perikanan Pantai UPT DISKANLA, Jatim. Dalam unggahannya di instagram, Khofifah tersenyum saat menggendong ikan predator yang berwarna putih tersebut.
"Fyi, ikan yang saya pegang ini adalah Ikan Malong. Meski tampilannya menyeramkan karena merupakan predator, namun gelembung atau isi perut ikan ini dihargai sangat mahal di luar negeri sana mencapai lebih dari Rp60 juta per kilogram," tulis Khofifah dalam akun instagramnya.
Lebih lanjut dirinya menjelaskan, jika isi perut ikan ini digunakan untuk medis dan makanan yang dipercaya memiliki banyak khasiat untuk meningkatkan metabolisme tubuh dan mengobati penyakit tertentu.

Sekadar informasi, ikan malong adalah spesies belut dalam keluarga pike conger, Muraenesocidae. Mereka biasanya hidup di dasar lunak di perairan laut dan payau hingga kedalaman 800 m, tetapi dapat memasuki air tawar. Mereka umumnya memiliki panjang sekitar 1,5 m - 2,2 m.
