CHAPTER FOUR: New Friends


I woke up in a dark- uh- room? Cave? I didn't really know, I looked at the cut on my arm, it was bandaged, and I had clean clothes on, but they looked exactly like the ones from the farm, does that mean I'm in the farm maybe? In HQ?

A little lantern was on the ground and I picked it up, as I walked through I found Ray, he was out cold, must have been from how much we ran, as I kept walking I found Emma, if she's here does that mean the others are too? Did the pursuers really find us all? There's no way, I was sure we tricked them. I walked through the cave, I had no idea where I was going.

A girl in a hood with a lantern saw me, "You're awake! How do you feel? Are you still tired? What about your arm?" I shook my head, "I'm fine really... how did I get here?"

"Sung-joo found you and your friend, you were surrounded by demons, you're one of the escapees right? You did a good job, and 31 of you, that's surprising." suddenly it all came back to me, "Wait 31? Are the others here as well?"

"Of course, follow me," she led me to a room full of kids, a bunch of the younger kids ran up to me, I recognized most of them but some of them were from the other house, I still hadn't learned their names, "Rosa!" "Rose you're okay!" "She's awake!" Lewis and Ava came up to me, "What were you thinking? Where even were you?" I laughed sheepishly, "I got chased down by pursuers, and then some guy in a hood saved me," I kneeled down to hug all the younger kids.

Ava started scolding me, I swear, sometimes I feel like she's Angel's clone, "You could've gotten killed! That was extremely dangerous and reckless! And..." she started crying, "And I'm so glad you're actually alive," I got up and hugged her, "Come on, you know I can't die that easily,"

The woman in the hood had left the room and I saw that they were making dinner, Angel was helping them, but I really didn't care, "Angel, I think there's a problem..."

"What is it this time?" I scoffed, "You say that if I always get in trouble," he glared at me, "Well you've almost gotten yourself killed like 3 maybe even 4 fours by now,"

"Well- that's not the point, I think one of the kids might've found out, about me being Father's spy and all, well, that I used to be..." his eyes widened, "A kid from our house or the other?" I laughed sheepishly, "From the other house..."

Before we could say anything else suddenly Emma ran into the room and all the little kids ran up to her, I went up to her, "You're awake!" She nodded, "Is everyone fine?" All the kids nodded and yelled "Yes!" in agreement, Ray followed right after her.

"I'm sorry to have scared you so much, we really didn't mean to add to your troubles, I'm Musica, and this is Sung-joo." That's when I realized they were demons, Musica said the guy who she calls Sung-joo was the one who had saved me and Ray.

"If you're demons, why would you help humans? I mean, in your perspective we're all high quality meals from Gracefield, which is pretty much like a restaurant to those rich demons who can afford it."

Musica smiled at us, "Well we don't eat humans, we have no intention of harming any of you!" I could try to believe that at least, she nursed Emma, Ray, and I back to health, and the fact that right now we're sitting in a circle being handed out food they made for us should be enough to believe they really don't mean to hurt us.

We were all handed cups or bowls of stew, we put our food down and prayed before eating, "Thank you for the meal!" It was really good, I almost couldn't believe it, Lewis broke the silence, "So, since some of us still don't even know each other, why don't we at least introduce ourselves?" He had a point, I knew Ray, Emma, Don, and Thoma, the rest of the kids from their family I didn't know.

"Wait, what do you mean you don't know each other?" Musica seemed confused, "We're from different houses," I started explaining, "Me and my family had a plan to go to the bridge, but before we got there an alarm went off, Emma and her family are the reason we're here today, they helped us escape," I smiled at Emma.

"Well, it was the least we could do, you would've gotten caught if we didn't help you, we were the reason the alarm went off in the first place.."

"I guess that does make sense..." We all said our names, and talked, and for once in a long time, I was happy, I felt like we were all a real family.

That night Emma and Ray woke me up, "Hey..."

"Why are you guys up so late? Or early- what time is it-"

"You ask too many questions." Emma looked over to her friend, and whispered-yelled, "Ray!" She sighed, "Look, we're gonna go talk to that Sung-joo guy, we wanna find out more about the farms, it might help with our journey, wanna come with us?" I thought for a second, 'we could really get useful information from that guy', I nodded, "Great!"

We walked out to where he was, "So, you're still awake?"

"Can we talk now?"

"Can't see why not."
