Fat tires on the e-bike are a lot easier to pedals without assist, than they would be if there wasn't any pedal assist at all.


A 45 min ride on hilly terrain in Level 2 was included in the testing. Riders on the higher side of the spectrum can get a boost from Level 2, which is comprised of five levels of pedal assist. Fit riders tend to be at Level 1 which is reserved for a serious workout and Level5 which is very easy to zip along with minimal effort.


498 calories were burned in the final results for a rate of over 700 calories per hour. I found a handy chart that showed that the rate was comparable to things such as barbecuing or playing frisbee.

A total of 498 calories were burned, and an average heart Rate of 106 beats per minute was achieved by the group at the end of the ride. Those who are interested in adding some physical activity to their routines can take comfort in the statistics.


It should be a huge surprise to everyone that these results come up. We have seen many examples in real world tests that show how pedal Assist powered electric bicycles can provide the same amount of calories burned as other types of exercises.


The real world test with riders was done by Seattle based Rad Power Bikes, and they used different styles of e-bike on different levels of pedal assistance for the test. The result gave insight to a greater range of riders and riding scenarios.


An academic study on electric bikes performed earlier this year by Miami University came to the conclusion that while riders do higher intensity exercise when using a non-electric bicycle, the amount of exercise on electric bicycles still provides moderate intensity exercise level that is suggested to prevent or decrease the risk of severe health issues.


The studies have found that electric bicycle riders get more exercise over the long run than pedal bike riders. Studies have shown that e-bike riders spend more time on the bike than pedal bike riders.


I have found that to be the case on my own rides as well. I can still get in a good workout when I ride my higher power e-bike. A 1,500W electric bicycle sounds a lot like a dirt bike, but it really gets my heart racing.


There are many advantages to riding electric bikes. There is a long list of e-bike benefits, but getting healthy while having fun is definitely one of the top ones.
