3. Why is the Snapper Fidget Toy so popular with customers?

The product itself is low-maintenance. A nine-ounce, hard plastic ball that fits easily into a pocket, the toy can spin for five minutes at a time. Six months after its initial release, sales of Snapper spinners were said to have surpassed sales of Snapseed at the height of the former company�s popularity last year.

The development team also had to figure out how to move Snapper around without spilling the contents. At the beginning of each spin, the balls rotate through four unique positions: keeping the jar open, opening the lid; remaining stationary with both the jar and ball closed; and inadvertently opening the jar while ogling the sights and sounds of a petting zoo through the camera housing on the front.

While there are GPS tracking features built into Snapper�s controllers, Lausey says customers want the actual device to be as unobtrusive as possible.

Snapper, a Colorado-based company, launched the Snapper Fidget Toy on Jan. 20 on the Amazon Appstore and Google Play. The fidget spinner came a week after a video on CNET went viral, showing people gaming the world�s most popular game, Super Mario, by bouncing the Android smartphone to the beat on their hands. Someone in the crowd at the event, which was hosted by Felicia Sullivan from Office Barbie, even managed to get the game recognized as an official Guinness World Record.

Since the release, the Snapper Fidget Toy has gone viral, garnering over 10 million in sales within its first three days and over 30 million overall, according to TechCrunch. The rushed launch time of the toy led to a shortage of inventory, which led to price increases of up to $20 from the original $49 listing on Amazon. With its unexpected surge in popularity, there�s concern among the company�s customers, who are voicing concerns online about the quality of the product. Some say it�s brittle, and others say it falls apart after only a few uses.

The company has also dealt with overclocking and repair questions on its website, with answers from Snapper co-founders Ayodeji Akunyili and Solti Akinyiboruna cautioning customers about overclocking their phones. In one response, they say, �It appears that a single phone can (and has for the past 2 years) highly overclock its CPU(s), graphics, RAM(s) and even more likely, its thermal limits. Instability is not limited to simply flicking the phone, but can easily occur when first unboxing the product.
