A Historical Journey To The Past Newbridge Village

Newbridge is really a small tourist village inside Central West of NSW that welcomes visitors and campers. It is often a great tourist destination for a visit with good food offered at the Gladstone Hotel, check out the Art Gallery (Olde Bridge Gallery) , investigate Craft Shop, or camp at the Showground. Take a ramble through the village featuring its interesting history and great scenery to understand more about. Newbridge is situated about 32 km from Bathurst leading to 29 km from Trunkey Creek The locality was generally known as Back Creek or Reedy Creek, but renamed Newbridge on April 15 1878 when an overhead road traffic bridge was built in the railway line.


Newbridge was founded like a gold mining town, the Post Office opening on 1 February 1856. Newbridge village developed throughout the railway line and station that has been built-in 1876. Newbridge is often a popular camping and fishing location with campsites available along the river. A point of pride to the town, town have kept your building beautifully maintained, and Newbridge has won a number of awards for just one of the greatest presented stations within the state.


One of Australia's oldest and largest regional galleries presenting innovative exhibitions alongside a lively and varied suite of public programs and events. If you would like to determine some of the displays from the Camera Group then visit Ye Olde Gallery in the corner of Trunkey and Caloola Street in Newbridge.


The Newbridge Winter Solstice is often a day of medieval magic and music. It takes place on the street (closed for that occasion) and also on the Gladstone Green. The entertainment has consisted of magic shows, Viking fighting displays within the afternoon (from Iron Fest participants), food stalls, Morris Dancers, many market stalls, two bands (one within the afternoon and another to the night), horse display, street entertainment and other activities to the younger people. There will likely be drink offered by the Gladstone Hotel (Strong Ale, Draft Guinness and other merry-making fortifications also!). There will be ample food to suit everyone (vegetarians included) from food stalls at the same time as the Pub. Most people is going to be dressed up in Medieval Costume to increase the merriment.


The highlight of the morning festivities will likely be the lighting and burning in the Wickerman for the large bonfire at 5pm. People are inspired to buy small Wickermen earlier, write their problems on the tag and later throw them around the fire to possess them burnt away!
