A Historical Journey To The Past Newbridge Village

If you plan visiting Newbridge we’ve come up with some of the things nearby that you could see or do while you are here. These include, places to stay, tours and attractions, some upcoming events and places where you can grab a meal.


Newbridge is often a small tourist village inside the Central West of NSW that welcomes visitors and campers. It can be a great tourist destination to visit with good food offered by the Gladstone Hotel, visit the Art Gallery (Olde Bridge Gallery) , investigate Craft Shop, or camp on the Showground. Take a ramble over the village with its interesting background and great scenery to discover. Newbridge is located about 32 km from Bathurst contributing to 29 km from Trunkey Creek The locality was first known as Back Creek or Reedy Creek, but renamed Newbridge on April 15 1878 when an overhead road traffic bridge was built in the railway line.


Newbridge was founded as being a gold mining town, the Post Office opening on 1 February 1856. Newbridge village developed throughout the railway line and station which was internal 1876. Newbridge is often a popular camping and fishing location with campsites available across the river. A point of pride to the town, the neighborhood have kept the dwelling beautifully maintained, and Newbridge has won several awards first of the most useful presented stations inside the state.


One of Australia's oldest and largest regional galleries presenting innovative exhibitions alongside an engaged and varied suite of public programs and events. If you would like to determine some of the displays from the Camera Group then visit Ye Olde Gallery on the corner of Trunkey and Caloola Street in Newbridge.


Newbridge railway is often a day of medieval magic and music. It takes place on the street (closed for that occasion) and so on the Gladstone Green. The entertainment has consisted of magic shows, Viking fighting displays in the afternoon (from Iron Fest participants), food stalls, Morris Dancers, many market stalls, two bands (one in the afternoon and another for the night), horse display, street entertainment and also other activities for your younger people. There will probably be drink which is available from the Gladstone Hotel (Strong Ale, Draft Guinness and other merry-making fortifications at the same time!). There will likely be ample food to accommodate everyone (vegetarians included) from food stalls at the same time as the Pub. Most people will likely be wearing Medieval Costume to enhance the merriment.


The highlight of manufactured festivities is going to be the lighting and burning of the Wickerman about the large bonfire at 5pm. People are asked to buy small Wickermen earlier, write their problems about the tag and later throw them around the fire to own them burnt away!
