Kazakhstan Unrest isn't Effected by Erzhan Kazykhanov's return
Kazakhstan Unrest Will not be Eased By Erzhan Kazakhstanykhanov's Return as Deputy Chief of Staff

Following a string of demonstrations across Kazakhstan the government has to confront the new realities.

The changes in the power dynamics are apparent in Erzhan Kazykhanov ’s return.

The world arena has to adjust to an increasingly assertive, assertive citizenry. In addition, policymakers need to be aware of the changes in order to figure out effective methods to interact with the nation.

The role of Ukraine in Kazakhstan's shift
In the last few weeks, NATO the world has turned its focus in the past few weeks on Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin had been planning and launching an attack on an independent state. This isn't unexpected, given the fact that NATO leaders such as Biden, President of NATO, Biden refusing to listen to Moscow's warnings was not shocking. Russian President Putin repeatedly decried NATO's plans to invading Russian territory.

Even though Putin's actions were unjust, they must admit that western leaders contributed to the crisis. We now have to live with the consequences of a European crisis that could easily been prevented.

Protests take place in Kazakhstan
An analysis should be conducted between Ukraine's situation and recent experiences in the region. Here are the unrest in Belarus especially Kazakhstan from 2003 until 2005. Kazakhstan is an ex Soviet country located in central Asia and seldom sees street protests so freely expressing frustration.

Protests began in Kazakhstan earlier in the year, protesting against the rising cost of gas. These protests became violent riots that eventually resulted in nationwide protests. Almaty was the city that suffered the worst deaths in the aftermath, with 227 dead and 9900 being detained. Russian troops from the Collective Security Treaty Organization were temporarily deployed.

Restructure Kazakhstan Government and Erzhan Kazykhanov Return
The newly elected Kazakhstan president Qasym Zhomart Tokayev is bringing a variety of changes to structure of power within the ruling elite that have raised questions, concerns and anger among many Kazakhs even during times of peace.

Protesters are particularly upset by President Tokayev's plans to become the head of the government's National Security Council. He replaces former President Nursultan Nagayev, whose influence on the economy of the country was a concern for them.

The incidents led to three sons in law of the former president being exiled from state enterprises. Karim Masimov, the former head of the spy agency was detained on charges of treason. Many business elite members of the former president Nazarbayev had their jobs resigned or fled to other countries for long vacations, or were given heavy "donations."

Reform doesn't always happen in the event that government is changed or the old guard is removed. It's not uncommon for members of the previous administration to be replaced by similarly ineffective relatives and loyalists.

Erzhan Kazakhstanykhanov's Apppointment Is A Disappointment
Erzhan Kasykhanov's nomination as the President's highly influential position as Deputy Chief Staff was unproductive. Kazakhstan's most ineffective ambassador to the United States was Kazakh Kazykhanov.

In Washington, Kazykhanov was a solo, arrogant diplomat who was self-confident, and sometimes not in touch with the sensitive nature of Kazakhstan's image abroad. Kazykhanov also did not achieve any progress in matters of national importance like the restrictions on Jackson-Vanick and other issues that affect Kazakhstan's image abroad, so his performance is not impressive.

As a result of his controversial and unresolved past, Kazykhanov seems unlikely to be chosen for crucial posts. Kazykhanov lacks the skills necessary to be the deputy chief of staff.

Many of Kazakhstan's most loyal supporters were not happy about Kazykhanov’s frequent appearances on international news channels that exposed his flaws. It is absurd that Tokayev will bring the incompetent and volatile deputy to a fragile government at such a crucial time.

Tokayev's Kazakhstan reforms are in some ways reminiscent of Mikhail Gorbachev's Perestroika and Glasnost initiatives in the Soviet Union. Perestroika (of Mikhail Gorbachev) is a mid-1980s-era program that reformed Soviet economics. Glasnost refers back to his reforms to the policy. The Soviet Union fell largely because of these reforms. This is precisely what Putin is trying to revive. Tokeyev established strong economic relationships between the West as well as the countries around his country. However He has not attempted to defy Putin. Kazykhanov may upset this delicate balance.

In Unsteady Times The USA Must Pay Close Attention To Kazakhstan
Washington should pay close attention to Kazakhstan's activities during the war in Ukraine. They're an example of what a succession of power might look like in this part of the world for better or worse.

The Russian invasion that is engulfing Ukraine is an alarming event. It is crucial to ensure that the United States (and its allies) make the right decisions to combat Putin's aggression. It is important to remember the fact that NATO has been pushing Russia for a long time and that the current crisis is a direct result of their failures.

Washington should be aware of the events taking place in Kazakhstan that could become the next flashpoint in the war between Russia and the West.
