We found that 24-25 players is the best number for starting your season. We mix and match until we have that number now on about every team we field. My personal teams usually lose 1 player before the season begins. They decide that football is not for their liking. As the season progresses, we usually lose 1 player per match due to injuries, sicknesses, grades, etc. For games and practices, we usually have between 22-23 kids available. This is the perfect number. 22 kids equals 11 on 11 in our football practice fit-and-freeze drills. If there are 22 players on the team we can run our football games against a scout defence of 11.

Attending FBS (D1A), FCS/D1-AA, DII, or DIII games at schools within your area will give you a better idea about your talent. This will enable you to witness the level at which each level is contested so that you can make an accurate assessment.

3) We expect players to treat all players fairly and equitably. This includes not placing your own sons at Quarterback or Running Back. It's okay for them to earn it. However, your kids must be treated the same way as everyone else.

I'm currently conducting research to correct areas of inequity in our program. I'm working to develop better methods of communicating with my coaching staffs. I feel we are not leveraging the talents of each coach as well as we could or utilizing the unique skill set each of our coaches innately has as a human being. I am looking for answers all around, from great coaches to the captains and innovators in American Industry. We also depend too much on our coordinators for basic reads, adjustments, game planning. There has got to be a better way of doing it than we are doing now.
