Kazakhstan Unrest Will Not Be Affected By Erzhan Kazakhstanykhanov's Return
Kazakhstan Unrest will not be eased by Erzhan Kazykhanov 's return to the Country as Deputy Head of Staff

After a string of protests that rocked Kazakhstan and the country's leadership, Kazakhstan's government is forced to confront a new reality.

Erzhan Kasykhanov's return could be an indication of the shift in power dynamics.

International relations need to adapt to a more assertive citizenry. To effectively interact with the country, policymakers should be aware of the changes.

Ukraine's Role During Kazakhstan's Change
Over the past weeks, has focused all its attention on Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin had been planning and launching an attack on a sovereign state. This isn't unexpected, given the fact that NATO leaders, including the president Biden ignoring Moscow's warnings, was not surprising. Russian President Putin has frequently spoken out against NATO's intent to encroach on Russian territory.

Although Putin's policies have been criticized however, the leaders of the west have to acknowledge that they were responsible for creating the crisis. Today, we are living with the consequences of a European crises which could have been prevented and it's fair to say.

Protests held in Kazakhstan
There should be comparisons made between Ukraine and the current situation in the region. These include the color revolutions of 2003-2005, as well as the unrest within Belarus and Kazakhstan. Since Kazakhstan is the former Soviet republic, it is not often seen in the streets protesting against injustice.

Protests began in Kazakhstan early in the year, protesting against rising gasoline prices and the worsening conditions for unemployment. The protests escalated into violent riots and caused nationwide rallies. Almaty was the city with the worst losses of life: 227 people were killed and over 9900 people were detained. Russian troops from Collective Security Treaty Organization CSTO were briefly stationed in Almaty.

Restructuring Kazakhstan Government and Erzhan Kazykhanov Back
Qasym ZhomartTokayev the president of Kazakhstan, who is elected, has made several changes in the power structures within the ruling elite. This has raised questions, worries, discontent, and concern among many Kazakhs during peacetime.

Protesters were enraged by President Tokayev’s decision to assume the presidency of the National Security Council replacing ex-President Nursultan Nazabayev. They were also concerned about his influence on the country's economy.

Three sons-in law of the former president were removed from their state companies. The nephew of the president was dismissed and Karim Masimov was arrested for treason. These officials were not the only ones who lost their jobs. Many members of the business elite that was associated with former President Nazarbayev left to other countries for long vacations or received heavy "donations."

The changes in government and removal old guards do not always bring about changes. It is not unusual for the administrators to be replaced with equally ineffective friends or loyalists.

Erzhan Kamykhanov's selection disappointing
Erzhan Kyzykhanov's selection to the highly influential position of Deputy Chief of Staff to President Tokayev was unproductive. Kazakh Kazykhanov was Kazakhstan's least effective ambassador to the United States, was Kazakh Kazykhanov.

Washington considered Kazykhanov as an arrogant diplomat who was too confident and aloof to care about the image of Kazakhstan. His actions on national issues, including restrictions on Jackson-Vanick and other issues relating to Kazakhstan's image overseas, is as well disappointing.

Kazykhanov who has a tangled and infamous reputation, isn't likely to be considered for critical post. Deputy Chiefs of Staff require diplomacy skills, broad knowledge and expertise and none of these Kazykhanov is proficient in.

The most ardent supporters of Kazakhstan have expressed concern at Kazykhanov’s frequent appearances, usually on major international news stations, revealing his weaknesses. It is absurd that Tokayev is bringing in a volatile, incompetent assistant to his fragile government at such a crucial time.

Tokayev's Kazakhstan reforms are in some ways reminiscent of Mikhail Gorbachev's Perestroika and Glasnost initiatives in the Soviet Union. Perestroika was the name given to Mikhail Gorbachev's mid-1980s reform program to improve Soviet politics and economy. Glasnost is the name for the policy reforms he implemented. The reforms he instituted led to the fall of the Soviet Union. Putin is trying restore it. Tokeyev is also a strong supporter of Putin's economic relationships with other countries around his country. This delicate balance could be upset by Kazykhanov.

As Unsteady Times are abound, the United States should be particularly attentive to Kazakhstan
During the war in Ukraine, Washington should be paying attention to the developments in Kazakhstan in the sense that they represent a preview of how a succession of power will unfold in this part of the world , for better or worse.

The Russian invasion invading Ukraine is a worrying trend. It is imperative to ensure that the United States (and its allies) take the appropriate steps to stop Putin's aggression. However, NATO has been inciting Russia for a long time. The current crisis is due in large part to their failures.

Washington should pay special attention to the Kazakhstani events. This may be the next trigger in the conflict between Russia as well as the West. Russia.
