Tuned in: Pakistani twins ride the popularity of Ertugrul with a local soundtrack
The reception to the cover version, according to the musician brothers, has been a "breakthrough" experience.
The work has received millions of views and retweets from Turkish deputy ministers and global bloggers.
KARACHI: It has a nice ring to it.
Fans and admirers of Leo Twins, 26-year-old Pakistani musician brothers, مسلسل المداح الجزء الثاني اسطورة الوادي believe the duo made a cover version of Turkish serial Diriliş: Erturul's original soundtrack.
"We were really asked by our followers in the comments part of our channel to produce a cover version of the original music." So it's a fantastic feeling to know that it's being appreciated so much," Sharoon Leo, one of the twins, told Arab News in an exclusive interview.

It's the cover song for Ertugrul Ghazi, the Urdu-dubbed version of the drama series based on the history of the Muslim Oghuz Turks مسلسل المداح الجزء الثاني اسطورة الوادي dating back to the 13th century, which premiered on state-run PTV on April 25 after Prime Minister Imran Khan said it would "help the youth learn about Islamic values and history."
The soundtrack has received 5.1 million views on the video-sharing platform YouTube since its debut three weeks ago.

Sharoon told Arab News that while replicating the cover was difficult due to the popularity of the OST created by Jenerik Müzii, they wanted to keep the cover's "Middle-Eastern flavour" as much as possible.

"We always attempt to execute our covers differently from the originals," Sharoon said of their covers of HBO's blockbuster series Game of Thrones and Pakistani drama Mere Pass Tum Ho.
"There was an instrument in the original track that we believed might be substituted best with the rubab." "We also improved the violin, which was not noticeable at first," he added.
While his twin, Sharoon, plays the violin and cello, Haroon works with a variety of instruments including the guitar, rubab, tabla, piano, cajon, ukulele, mandolin, darbuka, and others.
In 2012, they founded Leo Twins, named after their مسلسل المداح الجزء الثاني الحلقة 1 zodiac sign, in Rawalpindi, where they were born.

Sharoon attributes their success to their "true music master," Ustad Idrees Ahmed Khan, stating how a simple act of compassion on his behalf set the tone for their eventual climb.
"We found a guitar and violin at a shop one day but didn't have enough money to buy them." As a result, we sold our new phones to pay for the instruments. Ustaad Idrees Ahmed Khan, who used to teach music at the shop, was watching us the entire time and asked if we wanted to study music for free from him. "He said it was because he sensed in us a passion for music, which was uncommon back then, especially in our generation," Sharoon explained.

That was eight years ago, and while they've had a few hits and failures along the way, they received their first major break in 2015, when they appeared on Nescafe Basement's Season 3 as part of their team alongside music legends Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Atif Aslam.

Nothing, however, compares to the praise they've received for the Ertugrul cover, مسلسل المداح 2 الحلقة 1 according to Sharoon, with the soundtrack being retweeted by Turkish Deputy Minister Ali Shaheen and numerous other Turkish bloggers.
"It drew a totally different audience." We've been making covers to honour our iconic artists for several years now, but we've only gotten 45,000 subscribers. Nonetheless, the number of subscribers has surpassed 243K since we posted the Ertugrul Ghazi soundtrack. "With this soundtrack, we've made a fresh breakthrough," he remarked.
