What is the story behind how Roundup Ready or Roundup get their names?
First, what exactly is ラウンドアップ ? Roundup Ready refers to a trademarked line of genetically altered seeds that are intolerant to Roundup. The crops are referred to as Roundup Ready.

Roundup: Who was the person to invent it?
John Franz (Monsanto Chemist) first identified Glyphosate as a herbicide in Roundup. The majority of herbicides used in the agricultural industry were pre-emergent. That means they were applied prior to the plant and before the weeds emerged. The post-emergent effect of glyphosate to control many grass and broadleaf weeds was distinct, and when combined with its remarkable environmental (soil inactivation, rapid degradation, no carryover, etc.) and toxicological properties (extremely low toxicity to beneficial and mammals) and made it an outstanding product.

What year was it that Roundup was created?
Roundup (r) was launched on the market in 1974. It is a broad range herbicide that soon became a world market leader. It was initially utilized on railroads, in ditches, and in fields during the growth seasons. This allowed farmers the ability to control the growth of grasses and broadleafweeds in the soil. This way they could lessen the need for tillage, preserve soil structure, and also reduce erosion of soil.

Next came the case of Roundup Ready GMOs.
Monsanto scientists were fascinated by the revolutionary innovations in recombinant technology during the 1970s. Monsanto scientists realized the numerous advantages Roundup(r could provide farmers. https://search.rakuten.co.jp/search/mall/ラウンドアップ+マックスロード/ could be used directly on crops to control weeds. Ernie Jaworski, Rob Horsch, Steve Rogers, and I started working on this issue. This team developed the first method to introduce genetic to plants in the late 1980s. Then, ラウンドアップ turned our attention to creating viruses resistant, insect-resistant and Roundup-tolerant crops.

ラウンドアップ was found that Roundup inhibited the production of aromatic amino acids in plants. This is the reason for Roundup's extremely safe for mammals. Also, glyphosate was quickly degraded in soils by microorganisms. Our scientists discovered both microbe and plant genes that conferred resistance to herbicides. The USDA approved the first field testing of Roundup Ready plants in 1987. This Roundup-resistant crop included genetically altered tomatoes that proved resistant to Roundup. After a few decades, the Roundup Ready gene which would be the most important characteristic of the Roundup Ready crop was discovered. It was then isolated and then introduced into the crops.

Let's consider soybeans as an example. We will answer the questions: What exactly are Roundup-ready soybeans? How are Roundup ready soybeans made. Roundup Ready Soybeans are genetically engineered soybeans with their DNA changed so that they are able to resist the herbicide glyphosate which is the active ingredient in the herbicide Roundup. Because each soybean seed was injected with the Roundup Ready gene prior planting the seeds, they are insensitive to the chemical glyphosate. This allows farmers to apply Roundup Ready herbicides in order to kill weeds but not their crops.

Roundup Ready crops, which were first introduced in 1996 have revolutionized agriculture science and farming. Roundup resistance was immediately recognized by farmers, and the adoption of Roundup Ready was swift. Today, more than 90% of U.S. soybeans are grown using a biotech gene for herbicide tolerance. Roundup Ready crops have not only reduced and improved weed control techniques, but also decreased costs for tillage and equipment. This allowed for more efficient harvests and lower weed count. Conservation tillage has provided an environmental impact that is significant. ラウンドアップ have reduced their energy consumption and emissions of GHGs through the use of smaller plowing. This preserves soil structure and reduces erosion. This is equivalent to taking 28.4 billion tons of carbon dioxide from our atmosphere in 2013 or 12.4 million cars off the roads for a whole year (Source: , PG Economics).
