Erzhan Kazykhanov 's Appointment Is a Disappointment

Even Kazakhstan's most loyal supporters are sceptical about Kazykhanov's frequent appearances on major international news channels, which reveal his weaknesses. Tokayev's choice at this crucial time to hire an incompetent and self-promoting deputy into a fragile unstable, unstable government doesn't make sense.

Tokayev's Kazakhstan reforms are similar to Mikhail Gorbachev’s Perestroika or Glasnost initiatives within the Soviet Union. Perestroika is commonly known as the mid-1980s' program of Mikhail Gorbachev to improve Soviet economy and politics, and Glasnost refers to his reforms in policy.
